Augusta National allows female members

It has been a long time coming, but Augusta National, which hosts the Masters each year, has finally seen the light and allowed female members. For 80 years they have not had any female members, being an all-male Club and they invited the former US Secretary of State, Condoleeza Rice and another lady, Darla Moore, to join as members. The previous chairman, who refused to allow women to join the Club, even losing television sponsors for two years, and was famous for having said that the Golf Club might one day have women members, “… but not at the point of a bayonet.” Augusta National opened in December 1932 and took until 1990 before it got its first black member. In golf, it is considered one of the ultimate honours to get a chance to play the course and the only way you can is if you get invited by one of the only 300 members.

Die eintlike vraag is of hulle die twee dames ook groen baadjies gaan gee, in die log cabin gaan toelaat, en vir hulle lockers gaan gee...

I think that golf is a prestige sport. Yet if one is good enough to be in a whatever club they should be,. whether male or femal. it should be based on talent not gender.

And well for now golf is still remaining a Predominantly male sport.

I am also a very good sports"woman" and i love sport, i was always involved in sport at school whether it was netball, swimming, athletics, hockey, girls cricket, tennis etc. i was there ready to take on a challenge.

It was only recently that i decided to pick up a golf club and try my luck at a super swing! needless to say it took quite a few shots before i got the ball to go a little bit straight, but i was proud and hit the golf course.

I was terrible at the game, my balls going in every direction but the correct one, i spent more time getting my ball out of rough than actually playing it cool on the green, but i enjoyed it so.

I didn't give up, i was determined to get better and better at the game. In my struggle and in my frustration i continued to play and at only my third game "ever" i struck a luck like no other, some might call it "vloek" but i call it...... "Holy crap, how on earth did that happen" by hitting a hole in one on a Par 3.

Yes, i know what you are all thinking...... Lucky shot!! It was indeed, as it was a crawler, the ball didn't even lift.

I have packed up my golf clubs and haven't played since. its time to leave it to the professionals and rather do what i am really good at, with a memory of a lucky hole in one that should never have happened.

The fact that the acronym GOLF stands for Gentlemen Only Ladies Forbidden - will this now change :-) Having said that, golfing men need to keep up with the times and I know some very good golfing ladies who could put some men to shame at a round of golf.

I'm a good sportsman - okay, I WAS a very good sports person - I failed at nothing I attempted - I excelled in ALL sports........except golf. MAN, I don't get it! Bought the T-shirt, wore the cap, bought the gloves (even the damn shoes and they don't come cheap) - Jeep golf outfits and obviously a golf set. I still don't get it. I cannot lift that ball - I used to hit hard! I broke javelin records! I could handle a tennis racket - I can NOT swing a golf club. I've now come to the conclusion that it is not because I can't - I've decided that I am too short, that taller people have more anointing to do this and length benefits golfers. I absolutely believe that my boobs are too big. It's in the way - it hinders the swing from behind through to the ball.... Love it, but can't do it. You go!
