New iPhone 5

The new iPhone 5 is going to be released in America on 21 September and shortly thereafter in 22 other countries. Normally when they refer to 22 other countries, South Africa is one of those countries and in recent years, the latest iPhones have been released in South Africa quite quickly. This one is a game changer, because it not only has a bigger screen, far faster speed and a slimmer design, but to the irritation of many, it has a new port for charging and syncing.

Those people, who like me, have updated their collection of iPhones over the years, have always taken great relish in having a few spare power cables for that occasion when you lose one of them and now all of those cables are going to be obsolete, without an adaptor, because to make the phone slimmer they have reduced the size of the cable. The iPhone 5 is expected to be such a hit and the economists have said that it will actually increase the American GDP, given that so many people are going to run out and buy it. It is expected to be the biggest selling device or gadget in history, and given Apple’s superiority, and one cannot pretend that they have anything other than a superior product and dominance in the market, I fully expect that to be true.

I read an article in a recent publication where they criticised the iphone 5 and said it really did not improve that much on the prior phone. The import of the article was that Apple are desperate to ensure they keep a new product coming so they can try keep their stock rising - especially as people fear the impact the loss of Jobs will have on Apple as a whole. Sadly it puts incredible pressure on Apple to keep new products coming, especially when the existing products are already so outstanding. The legacy of Jobs clearly looms large.

Hint hint, Simone :) it would be awesome though.. I think if you can afford and use all the Apple gadgets and apps to their full extent, and sync them etc. etc. they would be amazing. Like having your very own iStore. I want it!!

Very cool, but i wouldn't buy one though! I would however buy an IPad, which I will in the near future. I just cant justify buying the IPhone at that price, if i'm not going to use half the apps. I would rather stick to my BB and get an IPad!

Having given a VERY old BB as a present from my very special daughter is something I can finally delete off my "Bucket List" - so this to me is very new... I do not CARE what an iphone is...... Senior moments....

I do really like the Iphone alot and would like to get myself one. the only negative factor for me is that the phone has a new updated version too quickly , when you have just spent so much money to get the previous version. very nice phone though.

I am a fan of the Galaxy - and i have not had any complaints about it, and chose it over the iPad. But all gadgets are fun to play with and get to know.

I am so excited for the iPhone 5 to be released in South Africa. Can't wait to get my hands on one. Funny thing is that I have seen a lot of complaints on numerous blogs about the new iPhone. Complaints such as that not much has changed and that the Samsung Galaxy would be a better option. I am still a big fan of Apple. Wouldn't it just be great if we could all have iMac's in the offices?? :)
