Office 2013

Office 2013 is coming in the first few months of next year. The release is so close that Microsoft announced that, certainly in America, new purchasers of Office 2011 get a free upgrade to 2013 when it is released. It is obviously going to be a huge release and will find many buyers quickly although one finds these days that more and more companies lag behind with technology.

That has never been my philosophy, and I am sometimes amazed by how many attorneys, for example, are still running Office 2003 and in fact a number of developers of software programmes for attorneys in South Africa insist that you use Office 2003 because they have not upgraded their programmes yet to 2007, let alone to the version of two years ago! Right now, I am trying Windows 2008, which is quite a change from previous Windows and takes at least an hour or two to get used to.

Technology is constantly changing and developing , its important to keep up with these constant updates because it just makes life easier and more sufficient. Most people are still "scared of technology" and dont realise how easier it makes life. you have to keep up with the times in this constant changing world we live in.

I'm also all for technology and making things easier. It's the way you are raised and taught that either makes you lazy or not. In the end it's your own decision so technology has little to do with it. I'm not saying it doesn't at all have an influence, I'm just saying that kids should be raised right. For example, if you're never going to read to your kids they will also never read any books. They will however read all sorts of statusses and updates on Facebook (if it still exists) and they will also not know how to spell other 'dAn Dis wAy..'

The advancement of technology over the last decade has been unprecedented. Remember when Windows 98 and Windows 2000 were the epitome of the operating system of a computer. Thereafter Windows XP , Windows 7 and now Windows 8. Technology is changing and it is changing fast! Just think about the advancement of smartphones. Remember the huge "portable" phones with the big antenna? I must say, nothing irks me more than to hear people increasingly complain about the new technology that has made our world more convenient and efficient in every way possible. Asking questions like "why do we need this? or making snipy remarks like "these kids are already lazy enough." - I must admit, I simply cannot wait for the new Office 2013! The amazing thing about each updated product is that each one comes with something new, something unimaginable, making life more efficient.
