Cell phones and cancer

I read a very interesting article in the New York Times recently, on a topic we are going to hear a lot more about, and that is that if you read the slips of paper that come with your new cell phones you will find disclaimers that, for example, that Apple says that you must hold your iPhone at least 5/8th of an inch away from your head whereas Research in Motion, the manufacturers of BlackBerries, indicate that a BlackBerry must be held at least 1 inch or 2,52cm from your head!

It is quite interesting that while the cell phone companies deny that there are any cancer risks from using a cell phone, their own disclaimers are telling you not to hold a cell phone too close to your head.

David, you are so right , people act like morons from moronville when they are on the phone , it is so dangerous, there was a case in US recently where 5 chearleaders on the way to a game , beautiful teen girls all got killed in head on accident , investigators discovered the girl who was driving got sms 1 min before the accident and was busy typing reply .

If all the signal connections to the towers from cellphones and networks could be visible to the naked eye, like blue and red strobes, then I think it will be quite shocking. Standing in front of a microwave was also considered very dangerous even an incorrectly sealed one could let very dangerous waves out. I don't know about now though. As kids we were told never to put our faces there to watch it turn.

that's not the only way they kill you. Texting while driving is apparently even more dangerous than driving drunk. According tot he Transport Research Laboratory in the UK, it slows your reaction time down by 35% as opposed to drank to the legal limit at 12%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As a motorcyclist, I am terrified when I see someone either on the phone or texting whilst driving - they behave completely erratically.
