E-toll and licences

I think that those who believe that the campaign against the E-toll system is going to succeed are deluding themselves. It is clear that government has taken decisions, made up its mind and whether or not this is the most cost-effective way of getting it ready, and everything suggests it is not, they are going to proceed. The latest suggestion that they will change the law so that they will not renew a licence if you do not get your e-tag, will force the people ultimately to comply, because not having a vehicle licence is one of the most common ways to get the attention of the traffic police and secure yourself a fine, and people do not really want to do that. I think at the end of the day we are going to see that this campaign fizzles out, and that people are going to back down and the E-toll system will go ahead.

You unfortunately probably right. I would not want to give in and would like to not give in until forced. So I mean even if you want to visit someone who lives in the south or the east you will be billed. And if you live in the South and want to come to the nightlife the north has to offer then you have to pay. Its so ridiculous, Im honestly so sick of working just to live in a country! Cant aunty Helen Zille take over Johannesburg for a change!!!!

I sincerely hope some bandits sell the structures to a scrap metal yard. This is riduculous. Especially that there are exclusions to the rule. We subsidize so much already.

The way of paying is against the consumers act, because firstly they charge you, but do not send a bill and how do you prove that you drove on a particular road at a specific time etc. Secondly, there are only two paymnet options - either they debit your account or they take the money from your credit card - not happy about either payment option. I just hope that someone kicks against this, and finds another, a better, solution.

It always happens in the beginning of something new starting that people do not agree with. Eventually you will have to give in or will have toi give in and will get used to it and see it as something normal. It is a pretty messed up situation and they are trying to make us pay whan half of us struggle already to just get by!

I agree, eventually all the government Institutions will have to comply with these rules of the E Toll. So some how some way everyone will eventually have one

I agree in the end no matter how many people are against it. It will come into effect and people will have to pay. I think that eventually it will just become like everything else we pay.
