Those following the news at all will note that a very impressive homestead is being built for President Jacob Zuma in Nkandla and of course there are also proposals to build and develop a nearby town. We were being told that this is all in the name of making the house more secure, although the costs of some R200 million, one may as well build a small town, and not just make a house secure. Apparently, Jacob Zuma has advised that he had no idea how much it was costing the government and said, “When people see my house on the TV, they must be thinking that government has built this for me. No, a large part of that has been done by the family.”
R582 million has been spent on a network of roads linking this home village with nearby towns, including Eshowe and now of course a proposed town is to be developed just 3 kilometres from his private home at an estimated cost of R2 billion. Newspaper reports indicate that of the R200 million being spent on upgrading his house, and this is the money the President does not know about, approximately R10 million is being paid by him and his family, so his suggestion that they are paying “a large part of that” is, and one would have to assume he did not realise, a huge exaggeration.

I hope they are building an incredible water supply system cos I heard that there are lots of the state-of-the-art showers being built at that residence....

I don't care how much a private person spends on their house and cars etc but when you have Promised to help the poor and make them vote for you and then build yourself a huge estate while the people who voted for you continue without sanitation, I believe you are a hypocrite and unempathetic - not traits of a leader.

Somehow the people need to be educated and they need to learn to think for themselves and not go on promises that others make. Use your brain, open your eyes, we need to vote for the right people.

I totally agree with everyone especially TABITA, people complain about what he does, etc but they will continue to vote for the exact same people everytime. They get promised houses, service deliver, etc, but nothing gets done... He does not serve any purpose for being a president, our country is alwasy on the news world wide and not for good stuff at all

And we all know where that money comes from... It is amazing to see that he spends so much on himself. That money could have done so much good for so many people but yet they are building 1 man a house and leave so many others homeless.

...and the majority of us don't vote. We ought to shut up.

What's to comment? It's sickening, it's not going to stop, they do what they want..... And we do nothing. We pay, we breathe, we work.... Awesomeness.

He has done it before and he will do it again who will stop him.
The people who voted for him don’t have places to stay or house’s, but again we voted for him while he was going through his court trial.

Absolutely shocking! I actually don't know how I missed this! His family paying R10 million out of TWO HUNDRED million! why hasnt anything being done about this? Who can actually do something? This is OUR hard earned money, do we not have a say?? - This R200million is going to him and his family - not helping the poor, not helping basic education, not health care or any of the other 200million problems our country faces! When he is no longer president does he still get to live in the TOWN of a home he has built? He gets to build his own town too? I am absolutely shocked! We are paying for his lavish house - this makes me wish I didnt pay tax! We need a leader out there not HIM! I urge the youth to vote and not sit back or 'take the day off', get off your bums and vote next time round and wisely! Well, one of these days, if the SA voters don’t get rid of this government, they’ll be right there, grovelling in the sand while the overweight underbrained government feeds it’s collective face to bursting point!!!!!

This man is beyond greedy and rediculous. He keeps taking and taking and never gives back. while his building this wonderful home for himself that he will hardly be in because he is always out or around the country. There are other sectors that really need such money like our homeless people , poorer families, electricity, pensioners, infrastructure and the list goes on and on.
Really cant handle this man and the constant lies like we all born brain dead and cant work out basic equations.

Wow, there is millions of homeless and hungry children in South Africa that, that money could be used on. I don't believe a large amount has been paid by the family

Wow a president that doesn't know how much he is spending is very scary actually. But he wouldn't worry about it because it's not his own money he is using. So much for creating jobs and homes.

Absolutely ridiculous. It is insane that this amount of money means absolutely nothing to this man. Out of all that money they are paying only R10 million? "A large part of that has been done by the family". Yeah right...
