Star Wars

I have always enjoyed science fiction, although Star Wars is not really the kind of science fiction which I like, which would be more of a serious nature. Star Wars has had too many “cute” characters and also often takes more of a jovial, comedian approach to science fiction.

While most people who thought that they got to the end of Star Wars, the announcement by Disney on 30 October 2012 that they had bought LucasFilm from George Lucas caught everyone by surprise. George Lucas is 68 and wants to take more of a backseat and I guess, having sold his creation for $4,05 billion he will be quite happy to relax and enjoy his money. Disney has announced that they are going to revive the Star Wars franchise, and having spent that amount of money to buy it, you can imagine what is going to be spent on marketing, etc and that the seventh film in the series will be released in 2015 and thereafter there will be new Star Wars movies every two to three years. George Lucas gets half of the money in Disney shares and the other half he gets in cash, so he will now have to think how to spend, at the age of 68, $2 000 million..

You've got to give it to Lucas. He is a true genius. I am sure he will be able to put his millions to good use. I know he owns a lovely ranch up in Marin County north of San Francisco. I am sure he can purchase a bunch more horses and other items too.

There are some really hardcore Star Wars fans out there and 'purists' as well if I can call them that. I don't think that these fans will like the Disney factor. When I think Disney, I think kids/teenagers. I personally love animated movies and they have hidden adult humor in them as well sometimes but I don't think this will be a hit. I hope so for the sake of the Disney name, but I doubt it.

I was very young when watching stars wars and enjoyed it then , I did not enjoy it recently, however, when I decided to watch it.

I do enjoy disneys movies (pirates of carabian etc) so have faith in the revamp of the star wars movie. will be sure to watch it.

Not my scene at all. Won't even bother watching it. I agree with Alexis that they should start coming up with their own ideas. I must say that lately I am disappointed in the movies they make. Comedies isn't the same as they use to be, you don't even laugh half as much as you use to a few years back. Either the comedies is getting bad or I am getting older with no sense of humor.

I agree with Alexis can't they come up with NEW ideas and wow that is a lot of money to spend on a old series and movies.

It was a good series but I don't think it is going to be such a big hit if it comes back but we will wait and see what happens.

My dad LOVED star wars and so does my fiance, me on the other hand hate it when they make 20 000 movies about the same thing and have different actors because the others are getting too old for the part or want more money or what ever the case is. Star wars is the same as Lord of the rings too boring for me, I have never ever watched one of them finished as they too boring for me.

Are we running out of ideas, are there no more talented minds out there. Why can they not just leave it at where it was, it was a brilliant series and it is over. I don't really like them, however I will say that they were well made and were very entertaining, as they were. Come up with you OWN ideas, that it what i would like to see
