The hail that has been falling recently seems to be out of this world. At de Broglio Inc we’ve already had two company cars damaged by it, and it is amazing to see pieces of hail, falling on a regular basis, that are literally almost the size of apples and in some cases even bigger. The picture alongside shows an apple with some of the hail that fell on 8 November 2012, damaging another car of mine but the previous storm about two weeks ago, did considerable damage to cars and it must have been a very frightening experience for anybody caught on the roads at that time.
I generally try to avoid driving in heavy rain, because it is particularly dangerous and one often finds multiple car pile-ups. I guess also, in our line of work, doing personal injury claims, we hear far too many stories about people who have bad accidents during adverse weather conditions and it is best to avoid it if one has the choice.

When it starts to hail the people go in such a panic and drive insane, cars driving over pavement, underneath any thing that may protect their cars slightly and they actually don’t think what they are doing or how they are driving. It's scary to be in your car and on the road dearing a hail storm...

I believe that the way in which weather patterns have changed over time and the increasing heat that the earth is experiencing definitely confirms that global warming is no myth - despite the vehement cries of certain conservative commentators, particularly in the USA. Indeed, anyone who doesn't recognize that global warming is a reality might as well argue that the earth is still flat. I find it ironic how many conservatives try to decry global warming and sickenly attempt to use religion to do so. Father God did indeed create wonderful mother earth for us. We stuffed it up with our selfishness and lack of restraint.

I know quite a few people who was caught in either one of these storms. I'm so lucky not to have been one of them. I can only imagine myself running around like a mad woman trying to save my car and then getting struck on the head or something by one of those apple-size hailstones.

I agree, properties, cars and everything are damaged and the weather is cold most of the time.

The randomness and irregularity of these storms amazes me. One moment you have sunshine, the next you're caught in a nightmarish situation. Durbans' weather has drastically changed, Cape Town's weather pattern has drastically changed - look what happenen in New York... I will probably be ridiculed and scorned for what I am about to say but there is no mother nature - only Father God.

Its frightening! Makes one think about the movie 2012. The hail is ridiculous, I just keep hoping nothing of mine gets damaged by the hail!

Alot of peoples cars have been damaged by the hail, the size of the hail stones have been unbelievable. People should be careful and drive safely even though there is always that one person that must be a fool and drive terribly in such weather.

I have never experienced hail this much before. Being from Cape Town you hardly see any thunderstorms or lightning, not even to mention hail!
It's been quite an experience so far and I can be lucky that my insurance covers hail damage.

Our seasons have certainly changed drastically, the hailstorms and winds these days don't only cause damage to property what about all the people who died.

My car was damaged in the 1st big storm a few weeks ago in Kyalami and the insurance said because of the high volume of claims it will probably only be fixed in January 2013 !

The hail has been something exceptional the past few weeks. It is scary to think as you are stuck in your car and can't do anything whilst your car is being written off by something completely out of your controle. I do hope that I never get caught on the road in one of these storms.

This hail has been insane and has caused a lot of damage to i am sure not only cars. Brenda sent me a video and it looks as though if you were caught in that you would be dead or at least terribly injured. Caron has it right, Mother Nature is amazing at what she can do

Unfortunately some people don’t know that it is hailing or raining in some areas cause in their area it might be sun shine then they decide to go somewhere and it is hailing and raining.
You can't control the weather, but insurers are paying a fortune and making money with the weather these days. I thought it was summer I know it rains in summer but these days it feels like winter, you hardly see the sun.
