Attorney Michael de Broglio on: South Africa, Law, Politics, Attorneys, Sport, Photography, Technology, Gadgets, Media, Crime, Road Accidents Fund,

Lance Armstrong certainly tends to dominate the front page of newspapers. Confessing what was already a given, to Oprah, seems somewhat desperate but no doubt his advisers feel it’s the best course of action for him. Confessing is obviously a sign of real desperation, when you have no other avenue open to you and one wonders what it is that is scaring Lance the most. Is it the law suits, the threat of criminal action or another issue not yet in the media? The people he threatened, sued and called names over the years for suggesting he was taking drugs have not been impressed by the televised interview.
By all accounts he will remain an extremely wealthy man given he apparently has assets in excess of $100 million and the cases where he is being sued total only about $10 million at the moment. One just feels with this story there is more to come, and we are missing a part of it right now. What are your thoughts? Let’s also see which channel in South Africa purchases the right to show the interview – and hopefully while it is still topical.

He admitted it but then he said but everybody was doing it. That's like saying you're not a murderer because everyone is killing people. It's all good and well to make mistakes and then admit you were wrong, great, but he sued all those people for saying the same thing. He looks like a fool. Not that it bothers me in any event as I never followed the sport but good on him raising all that awareness for cancer though.

It seems like poor Lance is never going to live this down. Even though he repeatedly used these drugs - he's only human. Yes, it's wrong, but he's moving in the right direction by admitting to being wrong. Not many people can openly admit to taking illegal substances to everyone. I'm not supporting his decisions and I'm not putting him down either

I really did like him so much, very disappointing that he decided to go down that path. I also read in the Star newspaper about his confession to opera, it was bound to happen

Many cyclists doped, Lance Armstrong just beat them all.

Yes tans, I am also wondering about Lance Armstrong’s runner up of the Tour de France, so many people are using these drugs it's just a matter of not getting caught. As soon as some people are getting to much Shine, questions are going to be asked.

I'm sure a criminal investigation will be reopened after admitting that he doped during most of his professional career. Hopefully then they'll find out who was running the "doping program".

I agree with Julie! Couldn't have said it better myself. I feel that so many other sportsmen use drugs but just haven't been caught out. I don't have much negative or positive to say to this but to his defence - his not the only one. I think they should make it legal seen that everyone does it. Wonder who the true sportsmen are!

Ek wonder maar net hoe het nommer 2 van die Tour de France dit reggekry om ‘n worthy opponent te wees? Powerade? Oats? Gmpf! This is such a joke.

I don't have much to say about the whole saga, however, I love what the book stores in the UK are doing, moving all his books to the "fictional" section. Brilliant way of preventing losses.

Everybody says, "mistake is the first step of success" but the real fact is.... "CORRECTION and ADMITTANCE of mistake is the first step of success"

This is only a big story cause Lance Armstrong is mention . How many sportsmen and women use drugs? Even in schools these days sportsmen and woman use drugs. They said on 7. 02 5% to 10% of schools children use some type of drug well they play sport. I heard so much negative things about this story.

I have seen so many comments about this whole story and personally think that he put such a negative spin on competitive sports. Who knows, there are probably hundreds of other sportsmen who are using drugs to take them to the top and nothing is being done about it.
