The Matric results are allegedly a slight improvement over previous years. I was horrified to read that at a number of schools not a single matriculant passed and in fact at one school, with approximately 27 pupils in Matric, not one of them passed. I don’t think it is particularly hard to pass Matric, and if your school has not one pupil out of 27 passing, then it should be shut down, the teachers sent home and dismissed and the headmaster fired.
There is really no reason why, aside from absolutely incompetent teachers and school management, that any school would not have at least a 70% Matric pass rate. A bigger worry for South Africa is of course more people are going to enter the jobless market and we already have an alleged 27% unemployment rate, which is undoubtedly far higher in reality, and there simply is not going to be work for the vast majority of them. Those that do get an opportunity need to work hard, do their best and make sure that they keep their job because in another 12 months’ time, another 200,000 pupils are going to finish Matric and join the workforce!

If you think the handling of food is a problem, wait until you see what they do if you complain about the food and send same back to be fixed up. I, personally, worked at a well know franchise during my school days and was in the kitchen once when I saw what they did to a steak that was not done to the patrons liking. Even Trevor Noah makes a joke about it in his "the racist" act. Never a truer word said in jest.

The results are very bad and the Goverment is to be blamed for not supplying books in time.On the other hand the pupils should stop playing and blaming teachers for their failure and be serious about school work so that they can achieve better marks.

I often think of new parents with small children., what they are going to be facing when their children reach a school going age. To find a good and let me add safe school for their children is certainly a challenge all parents will have to face eventually. Parents who can afford private schools can still take a comforting breath, goverment schools I really have to question

There is definitely something seriously wrong in our education department. It is shocking to see so many pupils fail.

These stats are scary... Not only should the pupils have time management but the teachers should discipline the pupils more as well. I remember our school giving out detention for being late and for bunking... Only if the pupils are disciplined, it might get better

The teachers and the headmasters that are not doing or taking their job seriously they must be fired because they are killing new generation. Pupils also need to respect time and make some sacrifices and get as much help they can get.
