Few news items created the shock that the killing of Reeva Steenkamp did when word started circulating at about 8am. A Pretoria story about the death of a model ended up, just a few hours later as headline news on CNN and Sky. In many respects that because most people in South Africa do not realize how big a name overseas Oscar Pistorius is. There is no doubt he makes millions from his various international endorsements. MNet have already taken down their Oscar Pritorius billboards – denying that it has anything to do with this case, saying it was an Oscar promotion for the Academy Awards and the promotion is over – which is amazing give they are only this Sunday.
South Africans are torn between those who believe Oscar is a hero and those who believe lightweight blades gave him an advantage compared to other runners, and that he perhaps has let his fame get to his head. That much is clear from the social media where the incident is being described as a “tragedy” on one hand and “murder” on the other. People comment base on their own reading of someone they don’t know and facts none of us are privy to. The only thing that is truly certain is that Reeva’s life is over and Oscar’s life will never be the same. What led to that life changing moment will be determined in our Courts.

There are so many unanswered questions about that morning and what really happened, which we can only wait to hear about, one thing is certain his past Behaviour and temper is against him and now the death of someones life is on his hands. I just hope justice is served. so tragic

It is sad, I feel sorry for parents both families I think they did not expect to experience this in their children relationship and I think Oscar if he did this was confused by something else and took a wrong decision that destroying his own future

This story is sad and if you hear something outside you start by checking so with Oscar Pistorius he just took his gun and start shooting 4 times before he can find out who was it. What I don't understand it’s when he shoot the first time Reeva Steenkamp didn't scream because if she did he was suppose to stop shooting.

One shot is a mistake, shooting somebody 4 times, without any shots being fired back to you can never be a mistake , even if it is an itruder. No human being is supposed to be killed like an animal

A lot of speculation but I'm sure facts are being gathered and will be revealed in due course. This tragedy does not just stop with Oscar or Reeva but ripples over on to Reeva's close friends and family who are now forced to deal with losing her in such traumatic circumstances. Oscars family who has to deal with everything Oscar is now having to face and all the allegations against him. The possibilities of it's truth and the tragedy it has caused for so many people. This entire thing cannot be easy for anyone who is or ever was close to Oscar and Reeva.

I would like to believe his innocent. There is alot of speculation and I think its quite unfair as many people have pointed out we were not there! We do not know. Just think about this though, from what I had read she was shot from inside the bathroom - surely she screamed before then or something? I would think she was hiding in there. It doesn't look very good on his side though with his temper problem, his threats to other men, his accident at the vaal being drunk, being in a vehicle. I feel extremely sorry for him if he is innocent but if his guilty I hope our court system shows him no mercy. My heart goes out to her family and even to her. She was destined for greatness (from what I read). She was truly robbed of that. I will definitely be watching Tropika Island of Treasure season 5 which Reeva Steenkamp will be in - only because of this story. For those interested, first show airs tomorrow on SABC 1 18h30

Oscar's "bad" and "dangerous" lifestyle, love for guns, girls and fast cars are currently beign exposed and is dominating every news paper and media outlet all over the world. Something definitely went down but no one knows what or why. Apparently police are hunting brother Carl down for some reason?? It might just be a rumour.
Reeva was stunning. I'm more saddened than shocked. Even if he is found innocent his life will never be the same and his career is affected.
In a few years form now, hearing Oscar's name will have the same effect than when you recall people like Tiger Woods, George Bush, Mike Tyson....

Oscar Pistorius has become the essence of excellence in every field he is NOT suppose to excel – the running track as well as a “murderer”.
A few months ago he strode the world as an athletic hero, becoming the first paraplegic to compete in an Olympic final. On Wednesday he made international headlines again.

I was hoping that he is innocent I said I will believe that he is innocent until proven guilty. I am not going to say I think he is guilty because I don't know the truth and no it is not because of his looks, if it was any other person I would've said the same thing. Either way, innocent or guilty it is very sad.

My heart goes out to the family of Reeva and may her soul RIP.

I just can't understand if it was to surprise him on valentines day where would she have gone to get what ever she needed at 3 or 4am? It is way too fishy. I really would like to know the full true story and also how a robber would even try to atempt to break into that estate is no joke.

All I can say is that we have to wait and see what happens, I personally think he is guilty because why did he fire 4 shoots?
He has a bad history with domestic violence and alcohol abuse.
Not long ago that story with him at the Vaal dam with all his drinking.

I have heard so many stories about his temper and mood swings and the way he has conducted him self in the past that I am a little against him at the moment. I will, therefore, reserve my comment and allow the courts to take their course. I do hope justice will prevail.

I don't think we will know exactly what lead to the shooting. Only Oscar knows. I have however read a lot on him in the last two days and it does not look good for him.
His history of domestic violence and alcohol abuse speak strongly against him, and in my opinion he reached a point and just snapped.
I don't think it was an accident at all, but i do however believe that Oscar was not in a good frame of mind when the shooting took place.
He now has to live with this for the rest of his life and i know that he will never have a clear head again, this will haunt him and may lead to serious mental issues.
Really sad!

There's a lot of speculation regarding this. It's very sad though. Everyone sprang to conclusions and said things and tweeted things etc. as did I..but we need to wait and hear what actually happened.
