The Oscars have come and gone for another year and the initial favourite, “Lincoln” was beaten to the Best Picture Oscar by “Argo”. Some say that it was because the producers of the Lincoln movie went a little bit over the top and had the movie introduced at a recent showing by the former President Bill Clinton and this did not sit well with the Academy voters.
Most of the favourites in the betting won the Oscars, and from a South African perspective it was fabulous to see the documentary “Searching for Sugaman”, which I have written about previously on my blog, won the Oscar for the best documentary. It is a heart warming tale that those of you who have not seen it need to see. I love to hear opinions though on the Oscars from those who have watched any of the movies, including “Life of Pi”, “Argo”, “Lincoln” and “Zero Dark Thirty”.

I thought that Argo was a one of the best movies ive seen lately, and i think Ben Affleck played his role really well, Life of Pi had great graphics and was done well. Zero Dark Thirty is next on my list of movies to watch, and only heard good things about the movie.

I watched the Life of pi and I really enjoyed it! The graphics were out of this world! Ang Lee deserved the praise and awards! After watching the Oscars (which can sometimes be a bit of a drag!) I would like to see Argo.

I have not seen any of the above movies yet and I hate that I missed the Oscars. Would love to see every category.

I havent seen any of the movies, except for Argo. it deserved the recognition and is one of the best movies this year. there is not a lot of action but the tension in the movie and the fear that is protrayed makes this an Oscar winning movie. Congrats to Ben Afleck who directed it.

I too don't make time to go to theaters to watch movies - I would have loved to see The Life of Pi - I always wait for the dvd but there is no comparison - only perk of watching a movie at home is that you can pause to get something to drink, rewind if you missed something, etc. But you miss out on the special effects big time

I am also happy that Django got an award I love all Quintons movies , he really has a great way of telling a story through his movies.
I am dissapointed that I did not get a chance to watch the oscars, would of liked to see all the different categories and winners.

I am happy that Django got an award, it was a very good movie and was very original. Tarintino did wonders as he has so often with very original ideas and just really good movies in the past. Movies that win Oscars are usually drama's and quite boring, nice to see something different get one
