Fighting for money

We have perhaps the most famous man in the world living in our country, and every time Nelson Mandela falls ill, the world press descend on whichever hospital he is allegedly at. I say “allegedly at” because it quite often turns out that he is not at the hospital at which they have all camped outside.

It seems so unfortunate to now hear that his family are all fighting about money and his heritage and all of us is damaged by this. We read that there is allegedly bad blood between advocate George Bizos and attorney Ismail Ayob going back to the Mandela “art works” fights in 2005. One of Mandela’s daughters is even holding a series of 95th birthday parties for him in July, all of course of a commercial nature involving boxing tournaments, football games games involving Manchester City, etc, and of course all of this involves a healthy profit. As one of his grandsons was quoted in the Sunday Times, “It is quite shocking that, while someone is still alive, there is a fight over his inheritance … He is being stripped of his clothes and they are being sold off.”

I agree with Brenda it is the stuff that doesnt cost a thing in life that matters the most. When he is dead there is no amount of money that will bring him back to life. It so sad the way money can get the better of a person.

It is indeed unfortunate that instead of Madiba's family celebrating the icon that he is to the whole world they are fighting over his possessions.

It's sad news to hear about and I think this should not been disclosed to public and should be a family matter and family should not fight for money while he still alive! it is a complete disgrace

Money makes people do the weirdest things on earth. It is sad to think that his family is more concerned about what they would get instead of concentrating on the time they have left. No amount of money can fill the place of a loved one lost and you cant get back the time you wasted

I think the money must go to the charity. His family is very greedy and they say money talks and people walk.

When I read things like this I get worked up and have to remind myself that what goes around comes around. We must not focus on these bottom feeders but while Madiba is still around, celebrate him and enjoy his presence. The others will get what they deserve in the end and we do not need to drag ourselves down by letting their actions and choices impact on our moods and actions

That is really sad that family can be so blinded by greed that they cant value what time they have left which such an amazing man.

This is incredibly sad, I don't think that people grasp the fact that money is not a forever thing. Money is something that runs out! Money can never be compared to a life at all. I remember once that my dad told me that if anything had to happen to him, i would inherit a lot of money.... I remember being most disgusted with him because i would rather have my dad alive and well than all the money in the world.

Our life on earth is not very long, so a life is so valuable and i would much rather be grateful for everyone in my life than worry about a petty thing like money!

My theory is, that if you have an awesome family and great friends, you are the richest person! And that is exactly what i am! I don't need money to feel rich!

Mandela's family need a serious wake up call!!!

Its disgusting. After all that he has done to ensure a happy future for not only this country but also for his family they cannot make his last days peaceful and happy. Intead the squabble over his possesions like children. If i were him I would leave everything to various foundations and let those who are after his stuff fend for themselves as he had to do.

He will have to make sure his paperwork is in order it seems like the family is just warming up for a fight for a lion share of his estate.

I think this is very sad for a man that is most respected for all the good he has done to have his family fighting for money that isn't even theirs to fight for. Poor Mandela isn't even dead and the children are causing so many problems. I also agree with Alexis put the money into the charities that Mandela started like the Mandela fund, I'm sure that's what he would want.

Disgusting they should be ashamed of themselves, they are doing this to their blood their own father and he is still alive they dont deserve anything from him

I am actually terrified that the Mandela's family are so money hungry people. His family should be very happy still be around him and learn from him quality's of his life and share maybe last moments with him while his around.

It is really sad that people fight about someones money while they are still alive. I really hope that his Will stipulates clearly what each member should get.

I totally agree with Alexis, Nelson Mandela must make sure that everything is in a proper will so that no one can touch his money. This happen in everyday life where someone dies all they think of is the money and not the hart sore that goes with it.

Alexis  said:
on Wednesday 24-Apr-13 06:18 AM
I say put all his money into charity - donate everything to charity - those people do NOT deserve a thing and definitely don't considering the way they are acting - it is appalliong and I feel disgusted at how people act and change when it comes to money
