Top TV announced recently that they received the go-ahead to broadcast three porn channels. Apparently, once they start showing X-rated movies and TV shows, they will shortly be producing local adult movies with local actors and actresses.
For R199,00 a month viewers get the three porn channels and while that is not offered elsewhere, and is obviously going to be a selling point for Top TV, one would imagine that DSTV has too much of the lucrative market already. The average person is not going to want to pile one box on top of another, so I don’t think the porn channels will be a huge selling market for Top Tv anyway. I also don’t think we are necessarily going to have a booming local adult movie production market overnight, but there is no doubt that when there is, it is certainly going to provide the news media with something to write about!

I agree with Sheena. If that is what someone would like to watch then buy the dvds. I don't see how Top Tv could think that children would not somehow watch this movies, I just don't agree

Why would any one watch porn on their tv while the children are running around and what if you are not at home and the children discover the channel where is this world going to just to make money.

Once again it goes to show that sex sells. It really is unbelievable and just think of all the drama this might be causing couples.....

Don't people KNOW how to do it lately.....???? Shew - I better get married now!
On a more serious note, just this weekend, I listened to a teaching tape of Andy Stanley about Love, Sex and Dating - he specifically addressed the issue of men watching porn and that statistics proved that men who watches porn (single, married, old or young) didn't have a good relationship with their fathers.....

This will definitely stir up things in married couples households. Will there be more divorces because I know many woman who are totally against porn. Anyway I think this is a desperate attempt to save their service.

I agree with Alexis, go buy the stuff. Kids today figure out stuff so easily.

Step 1 sexpo. Step 2 top tv porn channels. Step 3 woman vs ping pong ball live at Supersport Park.
Personally I don't feel the need to comment until step 3.

I Agree with David and Alexis. There is free porn on the internet and its not good for kids as they will figure out how to watch it. Really will not work

I agree with Alexis. I think the people and children out there are corrupted enough to still want to add to this.

I agree. Children are a lot smarter than people think - especially when referring to technology. I agree with how Juliet explained about being subjected to watching whatever they want you to watch.

And then people want to know why we have a rape problem! Such an intimate thing should not be publicly broadcast. If you want to watch porn, make a home video, and keep it to yourself. Its sad that top tv think that this improve their product sales!

I don't approve of this at all. as Alexis said kids are not stupid the will figure out a way to watch it. People watch TV as a family and then the porn channels will be useless as this will not often be used it is not worth it rather get it on the internet or buy DvDs.

Everybody to their own - personally I think that it is stupid and if you want to watch such things then go buy that stuff or something and kids are not stupid - they will manage to figure out how to watch that stuff -

a victory for freedom, indeed. that being said, i will not be buying their decoder or spending the R199 a month. There is absolutely no need - if porn is what you're after, it's free on the internet...
