Take the children to the theatre

It is lovely to see that there are often place for children and the people’s theatre, at the Joburg Theatre, is running Disney’s “The Aristocats” for kids. The show is running from 8 June to 28 July 2013 and tickets can be booked at joburgtheatre.co.za and range in price from R70,00 to R105,00. It is wonderful to go to the theatre, especially with young children to give them an appreciation for the arts and having seen this one, I can certainly recommend it.

Not a fan of animated movies but I must say I really enjoy the 3d / 4d they have at Gold reef. It just saddens me to know that no matter where you take children for fun today you always end up paying a lot of money I mean its not just or a show you must include food, nibbles, coldrinks etc.

If you are talking live theatre I have to agree. I have been taking Storm to the ballet and other theatre shows since she was a little girl and she has always loved it and especially loves dressing up for the ballet. In fact we will be going to the ballet on Sunday at Emperor's Palace - neither of us can wait.

Blogs, how I miss them :-) Truth is, adults get the opportunity to be childlike again. And there is nothing better to appreciate that inside all of us there is a child that has not grown up. Have a good day all.

I didn't really enjoy going to theatre when I was younger, as I don't think there were animated shows. So its nice to see this for younger kids... As I grew older I started enjoying it more

I think its important to educate children from an early age in things like the arts and music. I am happy to see that there are place trying to do just that and I hope that parents would use the opportunities to take the children and just think it could be fun for the whole family

All these comments about so many nice things for "kids" to do nowadays! Now I don't have kids, but I sure can bring out the "kid" in me to go and watch something like this. Theatre is theatre, weather its phantom of the opera or aristo cats! I would love to go!

We had none of this as kids! I think the only excitement was the circus which came to town once a year. It sure is good to know what there is to do and where you can take kids nowadays. I will need it once Robyn eventually decides to have kids..

I think the theatre gives children the exposure they need in a time where iPads and PS2/3 dominate the entertainment sphere for children.

Yes Thanks Michael for the info. Will take a look at it. They haven't ever been to a theatre and they are at the age now where they will appreciate it and not keep on wanting to escape their chairs.

You should also consider taking the kids to the SciBono center in Johannesburg. Went there to see the Body World exhibition and spend a couple hours after that just mulling around looking at all the science exhibitions.

Thank you Michael so much for info, I will definitely take my little ones to see the performance, always looking after this kind of advertisements to educate my children. In Ukraine while I was studding in university I was working in children's theatre - performing for kids.

It is always a good idea to get children interested in going to the theatre. It builds appreciation for the arts and ensures a broader education than what is offered in the majority of schools.
