Petrol price reduction again

With the Rand’s recent strength, and international petrol prices fairly stable, we are looking at another drop in the petrol price in early November.  At the moment, we are looking at an approximate drop of 23c/litre for petrol and 10c/litre for diesel.  That is always good news, although one does forget that some of the money involved in the petrol price, apart from the general taxes, which goes to the Government, is actually money that is paid to the Road Accident Fund.  That money at least provides everybody with coverage if they are injured in an accident.  There are however too many general taxes that have been included in the petrol price to the extent that most people would not realise that the basic fuel price per litre at the moment is R7,24 for 95 unleaded petrol, but by the time all the taxes and mark-ups have been added on, we pay R13,30.

That is fantastic news. Although, the last time we thought we were going to have a fuel price decrease, we had an increase instead. So I hope that this time we will really have a decrease an a few more actually before it goes up sky high again.

People can be very negative about good news. I'm happy when the petrol price goes down as it will allow me to use that money to pay for something else.

I agree with Sally

One step forward and two steps back. Will we ever be happy with the petrol/ diesel price? Will it ever be cheap enough?

Hopefully it doesn't go down to go up twice as much! Let me rather be positive and say I am happy!

I really hope it is not the case that Sally says. I hope it goes down and stays down

The petrol price is always going down in November so that it can go up in December before everyone is leaving on holiday.

That would be great but that's to be seen

Petrol increases more than it decreases anyway. While it's awesome that it's going down now, next month it will probably go up again :( Touch wood...

A drop in price is welcomed but the predicable increase thereafter will more than make up for the temporary relief we felt

YAY - petrol is ridiculous and it will be nice when it goes down instead of up as usual

I'm glad that the petrol price is stable at the moment and that it is going to go down but soon it will be increasing its just a matter of time

The drop never makes up for the rise. It will drop now but next month rise again

Good news for now.As everyone says its just a matter of time before they increase it again.

Even though I welcome the reduction in the petrol price, especially since the festive season is around the corner, I know it is just a matter of time before it starts to climb again.

I love it when the petrol price goes down. On the topic of the money that gets paid to the Road Accident Fund - you will be very surprised at how little people actually know that that is incorporated in the fuel price - shocking!!

I guess its a bit of a catch 22 situation. But, I am welcoming a reduction in the petrol price!

The Petrol price always goes up and down, but most of the time its increasing, as soon as the Petrol price drops, they will find any reason to use just to increase our Petrol Price by twice as much.
