Twitter lists on the stock market

Twitter has finally come to the stock market at a time when all shares are on the way up, and even Facebook has recovered considerably from the depths it had plunged into from the beginning of this year.  I cannot say that I use Twitter every day, but certainly when I am bored I do tend to try and follow the news that way and I find it particularly interesting during major sporting events, where you can see the comments of other fans and complaints about referees, etc.  I would be interested to know though, for those of you on Twitter, who you follow that you find of particular interest.

The most popular Twitter user at the moment is Katy Perry, who on 7 November 2013 had 46,7 million followers – she no doubt has more already.  The challenge for Twitter of course is going to be how to make money out of advertising, which is a similar issue to Facebook but perhaps with even less space to do it in, so we are no doubt going to see more sponsored tweets and possibly adverts, but it certainly is a universal phenomenon, with approximately 75% of Twitter users living outside of the United States.

I have to agree with Kaylee and Safia - it has a huge impact on society. I read something the other day where the person said that sad people tend to look at their facebook and twitter accounts more often than others. I have to admit that I also only have these accounts because I am curios and love reading what people are up to.

I do not use either twitter or facebook. I had a facebook account but became bored with it very quickly. If I want to chat to people, I call them or text them. I am honestly not that bored that I need to follow people. If I want to know what they up to, I read the paper or listen to the news.

I have both accounts but am rather getting bored of it. There are too many social networks to keep up with. I follow celebs that I like - but starting to seem as if all they ever do is advertise something. This morning it was interesting to see how many people tweeted about the tremor! I follow funny people, celebs, news channels, weather, and anyone who's tweets are interesting or funny.

I recently watched a film called Disconnect - the film explores how people experience the negative sides of modern communication technology. Excellent film! Not only that, it stars Alexander SkarsgÄrd!

Disconnect is to social networking what Requiem For A Dream was to drug addiction.

My twitter and fb accounts are there to entertain me when I am bored. Neither should be a means to communicate.

I've had twitter for about a year and a half. I follow mainly faith inspiring leaders such as Harold Weitsz, Marc Bredenkamp, Joel Osteen etc.

I used to be a social networking junkie, then I watch a video "The Innovation of loneliness" by Shimi Cohen. Really made me think about the impact on society.
