Yesterday’s topic was Oscar and today’s is The Oscars which of course took place in Los Angeles on Sunday night. One thing about The Oscars is fairly predictable is that, as I’ve written before, the betting websites certainly give you a very good indication of is going to win each award. In some ways that removes much excitement because there is not much uncertainty on most of the winners.
The hot favourites in the betting win everything every year and is only where the betting is close that sometimes there is a surprise. For example, 12 Years a Slave was almost guaranteed to win best picture and Cate Blanchett was far away the hot favourite to win the award for Best Actress. Some of the awards are listed below and if you’ve seen any of the movies I like to hear what you think and which ones you still plan to see.
86th Academy Awards winners
Best Picture - 12 Years a Slave
Best Actor in a Leading Role - Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club)
Best Actress in a Leading Role - Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine)
Best Actor in a Supporting Role - Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club)
Best Actress in a Supporting Role - Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years a Slave)

I finally got around to watching gravity, and i am not surprised that it won a few awards. With only two main actors starring in this movie, i thought it was going to be an early night, but it had me on the edge of my seat. I have never sat through a movie where i got so into it, that i actually stopped breathing, and that is the impact the movie has on you, its almost as if you are part of it. It was intense but brilliant.

I don't have time to watch movies never the less the Oscars, when I get time I would rather watch Lollos with my daughter since she is enjoying it so much. When I see highlights of the Oscars I am always anxious to see what dresses they were wearing, some of them are really phenomenal and the rest is simply outrageous.

I think Leo lost out this year, but I guess I will have to watch the rest of the movies, as I haven't seen them yet.

I watched as well the Oscar yesterday, well done Ellen for great hosting of the show. So sad that not to many international movies were nominated for the Oscar. Great to see all great actors together and having pizzas. Did not watch non of the movies yet, really would like to watch 12 years of slave with Cate Blanchett.

I am looking forward to seeing Dallas Buyers Club! Both Jared Leto and Matthew McConaughey lost a scary amount of weight for the roles, and it is creepy how well Jared Leto fits right into the role of a transgender woman.
The theme of HIV/Aids and the prejudice that comes with it is incredibly pertinent, especially in our country.

I am still trying to believe the coincidence of 2 Oscars on 1 day. Of all the names in the world and of all the available dates

I watched a bit of the Oscars last night and I thoroughly enjoyed Ellen hosting same. I always enjoy watching the ceremony but 3 hours is sometimes a little bit too long! I was happy to see that Jennifer Lawrence kept up her legacy of falling at the Oscars, this year it was not the stage, it was out of the car at the red carpet. Poor girl!
