Playing the race card

The report into the SABC and the Acting Chief Operations Officer, Hlaudi Motsoeneng, saw some surprise reactions from people supporting Mr Motsoeneng.  The Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela, found that he had been irregularly appointed and that he is also paid in excess of a capped salary allowance.  In one year alone his salary has increased three times from a total of R1,5 million to R2,4 million, which was exceptional considering that he had no academic qualifications.

Luckily for him, the former SABC’s board chairperson, Dr Ben Ngubane, when advertising for the position, removed the academic qualifications that had been previously advertised so as to ensure that Mr Motsoeneng would be able to get the job.  The academic qualifications were important because the man who was the Chief Operations Officer of the SABC never passed Matric.  By his own admission, he stated in his application form to the SABC that he had passed Matric and he filled in made up symbols – so he got the job in the first place improperly and got promoted in 2013 to a post of executive producer also on an improper basis.  He apparently purged the SABC of numerous staff with whom he had disputes.  The Communications Workers Union has however said that the report of Thuli Madonsela is the views of the DA and that she is simply speaking on behalf of Helen Zille and the white minority!  In rejecting the report, which exposed all of this, they say, “We violently reject the report” and that Thuli Madonsela is a “foot soldier of the white minority”.  It is quite sad that institutions are allowed to be rubbished like this, simply because people have agendas when the Public Protector was set up to do exactly that – to protect us all.  The website of the Public Protector is www.pprotect.org

Why are we all suprised?? Our president doesn't have a matric either! Clearly only low paying jobs require a matric. So tired of the race card - we in 2014 for goodness sake! Anyway Thuli Madonsela for president!

Credit must be given where it is due. Thuli Madonsela has done one great job after another.

I think Thuli did a great job here and that she's the kind of person the Public can rely on in terms of Public Protection

Keep it up Thuli, may you continue doing the good work by bringing down corrupt people.

I can't stand people who try to slide by in life and get successful by 'shmoozing' and knowing the right people. If you don't work hard to even get your matric certificate, what are you doing in a huge position like the Chief Operations Officer at the SABC? Race doesn't even play a part of this, we cant blame everyone ans everything else for our mistakes. This is infuriating.

So as soon as they have no proper evidence to gainsay a report like that they throw out the race card. Good substantiated arguments right there.

Ah, the race card, the easy way out when you are busted for corruption. I have to say it's a tired and pathetic excuse. Apart from that element not really shocked at the lies and deceit, seems the norm these days.

I feel, any person in a higher position as such, is just there to benefit him/herself and not the people, and when caught out whips out the race card, to shift the negative thought onto something else, while emotions and feeling are then brought up, he slips out the back door, and the main focus then remains on the race issue. If you are man enough to take money dishonestly then you should be man enough to take responsibility. But again nothing is solved and South Africa remains in this rut.

WOW - I am so tired of this nonsense. Can we not just please try move forward. We have such an awesome and very beautiful country and could do so much with it - yet always the racist card - sick of it.

The Tired Race Card - For how long will the Left pound a square peg into a round hole? Amazing how people in this country can be as guilty as sin and then manoeuvre themselves into the victim position. I think "moses mentalities" must take their race card mountain out of our way so that the people who want to can carry on walking around that same destructive mountain can still entertain it at will but at their own cost while the rest of us move on with our lives without further delay. The leaders in this country do not want their people out of "slavery thinking" that way they remain puppets on strings in hands of evil self-serving devices.

discriminating on people because they are trying to make a difference, is ridicules. just like the amount that Hlaudi Motsoeneng is earning while there are children who don't have food to eat, a roof over their heads or even clothes on their little bodies...its a disgrace

I really like Thuli Madonsela. I think I would enjoy her job. People never like someone who points out how they are lying, cheating and stealing. They try to defame them in order to attempt to ensure that they can continue their looting. Like Alan Dershowitz recently said, South Africa is a failed country. And with the imminent load shedding we will prove him right by all sitting in the dark while thieves smash and grab our car windows as we drive for 2 hours home because the government can't install robots that work in rain and build our roads with baking powder which evaporates into craters in mere drizzle. One person trying to make a difference is Thuli Madonsela and the peanut gallery is screaming NO Don't help the country! Stop trying to fix things! Stop trying to improve our lives!!! Idiotic.

What dishonesty! How can anyone earn that amount knowing that their qualification or lack thereof are not deserving of the salary that they earn. Another thing I do not understand is why race must also feature where it is not at all applicable. Will we ever move past this?
