I have complained previously about false claims on TV that the coverage is live. On some sports, particularly those broadcast from overseas, they often put up the logo to indicate that the coverage is live, when in fact it is not. I have even seen that in The Masters a few years ago, but a recent example was the Shell Houston Open, played in Houston, Texas in the first weekend of April. Live footage, at approximately 9pm on SuperSport indicated that Sergio Garcia was currently playing the 8th hole whereas in fact, the tournament was about to end, and he was playing the 16th hole. When one considers that they play a hole every 12 or 15 minutes, it means that SuperSport’s supposedly live coverage was at least 2 hours behind. I don’t mind if they use the sign “earlier”, which they sometimes do, because at least that is honest and is indicating that what you are watching is not live but it is extremely irritating, in an age when one could simply turn to Twitter or the PGA Tour website and see that the tournament is about to end, but in South Africa we must pretend that it is live. Admittedly, during some of the coverage they did show the sign “earlier”, but in between they also indicated that it was live, when it clearly was not. The worst part is that one could always go to the PGA Tour website and get some of the coverage live from the golf channel which will show you what is going to happen in 2 hours’ time on SuperSport.

I am not watching TV on a regular basis so it does not really bother me.

This is extremely frustrating to say the least.

I really wish I watched sport to comment on this, but I cant even remember the last time I watched TV. Can imagine how frustrating this can be though, for a sport lover.

It essentially boils down to false advertising, and just like you can't sell donkey meat and call it beef, you shouldn't say something is live when it isn't. Especially when it may result in spoiling the game for you because you may read a friend's Facebook status, a tweet or receive a sports update on your phone.

I can imagine that its more than likely just one lazy slob sitting there pressing the wrong button, making super sport look bad. In fact a lot has gone wrong with DSTV lately - bad staff?

It doesn't really bother me if its live or not, the only sport that I do watch I record and watch later to its not that a big deal to me. I can see how it can be annoying especially when you are watching something like a final or something like that.

I prefer watching when it says its live, the feeling is more exciting to that of a repeat. I wouldn't go out of my way to see if it actually did air live because what can one expect when there is a lot of false advertising out there....

Unfortunately we live in a world full of lies, we just have to accept it somehow.

There is lots of false adverting these days. I agree with Juliet i went through the DSTV guide the other day and was waiting for a movie to start at a specific time and it started only 30 minutes later.

There is nothing like watching a sport live, when it is indicated that it is a live game when in actual fact it is not is just silly. I agree that the "show" should just be aired earlier and actually broadcast same live. I went to the rugby on Saturday evening and I must tell you that at certain stadiums, I do prefer to watch the game at home on the TV because you tend to miss so much in the stands.

Especially in a game of golf, where every nail-biting shot makes a difference. I think the live, overseas games there is usually a lag. Family of mine play competitive golf and when we are watching the game- we rather follow online as then we know are getting live updates that are accurate.

I don't watch enough tv for this to be a problem in my life. The bits that I do watch generally do not include sports.

I have noticed this before, but I really don't let it effect myself to the point that it actually upsets me, It's like water off a ducks back to me.

I think it is just bad management by DSTV. In the last few weeks I have encountered two errors in their administration, the 1st being that the formula 1 didn't start when they said it would and the second being programmes in their DSTV Guide not corresponding with programmes and viewing times on the actual TV

I don't know why they can't just say what it is. Then at least the public knows.

It would be better if they just stated earlier instead of misleading the people into thinking it is a LIVE game they are watching
