The end of an era

Many teenagers, and young guys, grew up in South Africa reading FHM magazine.  It still has a fairly well known brand name, but its sales have suffered for years, and the current edition on the shelves is the last edition and not only that, its website, www.fhm.co.za is going offline permanently on 30 April 2014.  I am sure there are many who will say that they read the magazine only for the articles, and not for all the South African models that featured in it, but if there is possibly one thing that is true, the magazine launched a lot of local entertainment careers. Like many magazines the kind of content that it has is freely available online and that obviously would have hurt sales.  There was a time when most models aspired to be in FHM, but in recent years it has certainly lost a lot of its lustre as the sales show, and its time has now come and gone.

Its quite sad to see this close down. Not sure why they are closing the website, seeing as today's era, online is the way to go. I really think they could have at least left the website open.

Magazines are fast becoming redundant as a result of the internet. Why buy a magazine when you can google any picture, health tip or sports news anytime you want for free?

reading of magazines just like books has moved from hard copy to online. it sad that one day there will be no printed reading material and everything will be digital

I thoroughly enjoy the articles in the FHM and I am also a subscriber so not very happy to be hearing that they will no longer be around. It is extremely sad that a magazine that has been around for so long will just not be anymore. But like anything that does not make a profit, must go!

Some are the articles in the FHM were quite amusing. Not a mag i would rush to the shops to get my hands on, but im not a man after all! Strange its come to an end.

I also enjoy to read the articles in the FHM, especially the woman confessions (Weird but interesting). One of my ex boyfriends was very addicted to this magazine, I am sure he never missed a copy. I really think some guys will be very disappointed, but again sooner or later there will appear a better magazine on the shelves...

It seems that men have turned more to fitness magazines

There has been some rumours but no official word or press release from FHM or Media24 yet. The rumour apparently is that the June 2014 issue will be their last. This may be a shock to all their readers if this is true...

Of course its never wished upon any title or team for a magazine to close down, because behind every magazine theres a dedicated team, and also dedicated readers that might see the specific title as the best title in the whole world. But every year long standing titles close, and every year new magazine babies are born. Its the cycle of the game, but its not always nice&

I remember the days of Kerry McGregor appearing on the cover of FHM when she was the wonderbra girl. I think I was still in school, and everyone I knew wanted to a be on the cover of FHM. One or two of my friends were student of the month in FHM when we left school. But it seems that FHM was since been long forgotten, and most men tend to read magazines like GQ, which focuses on everyday issues, including gym and health.

I really liked this mag, not to say i bought it every month, but it was quite entertaining. It's a pity, but there are always new things coming out and entertaining the individual. As well as it does come with age, at a certain age, this is what you would get, but as you grow older....a lot more interested in mags such as Popular Mechanics etc

With many website and magazines available freely online, who really still buys magazines. Besides there is such a variety to chose from. No doubt FHM helped with many aspiring models career's with a platform and got quite a few local girls attention but everything has to come to an end. Sure it will be a sell out seen that its the last edition!

It's actually about time. i knew figured for quite sometime that this magazine would come to an end. You lose some, you win some i guess.
