Attorney Michael de Broglio on: South Africa, Law, Politics, Attorneys, Sport, Photography, Technology, Gadgets, Media, Crime, Road Accidents Fund,

It seems that the approach to the Nkandla farce is going to be that we, as members of the public, will continue to pay for it. We now have the various cabinet Ministers involved in the security of the State bringing a court review of the Public Protector’s report. She of course will also have to oppose that court review. We are going to pay, as the taxpayers, for two State entities to fight a legal battle against each other and no doubt take matters on appeal as well. In short, we will be paying both sides of the legal fight and spending millions on it, while not being privy to the advice that the attorneys are giving either side – at least one side is probably going to be getting advice along the lines of, “We have very little chance, but if you want us to play for time, we can certainly do so.” As it is, we are paying a fortune in legal costs, including for the so-called spy tapes which the Supreme Court of Appeal previously insisted had to be handed over to the DA and Jacob Zuma and his attorney, have subsequently had disputes as to that order and that particular issue is heading back to the Supreme Court of Appeal again as well.

This will only get worse, tax will go up, and how we make it through is a miracle, tax keeps going up, and WHERE is the money going. Yes stolen directly from our Government, and all the corrupt people in this country. And sad truth is this is not going to stop until there is nothing left.

This really upsets me. I suppose being a very recent law graduate, I have grown to look on the law of South Africa fondly, but recently, I see that although we may have a beautiful constitution, it means nothing when the system is abused and the correct enforcement thereof is non-existent.

It does, for all intensive purposes, appear that the president and his politician cronies can break the laws with impunity. Take millions to support your lavish lifestyle? Sure, just make sure your name is Jacob Zuma or any one of his cadres. I wonder how well the elite cadres will manage on the average income per person in our country.

Money comes then goes not only to our expenses but mostly into the governments pockets. It seems that if you want to be part of the government, you have to have some sort off corruption on your resume' because like everyone is saying, all the officials in the government are full of corruption. Nothing will change in this country anytime soon! We should all just stop paying tax.

How annoying! I think everyone is fed up yet some people still vote for no change! Something drastic needs to happen. How can half our government be criminals?? How do they keep misusing state's funds! Why do they get away with it??? Will there ever be a sollution?

Seems to me that I will have to get married for money instead for love. What is the whole point of deserving a income and the government keeps on taking what's left of it.

The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. The rich in SA shouldn't have too much to complain about this. They will not notice the missing money in the deep pockets, but the poor will continue to have their faces shoved in horse crap until they accept and vote for another government in 5 years time. They are the ones who will be affected by these increasing costs

As it is all products and services are at the highest price levels at the moment, everything is becoming more and more expensive and to be honest they are living a good life while everyone else needs to empty their pockets.

One can really not hold it against people for bailing on this country to try and establish themselves under a better government elsewhere. You will never find a perfect country but South Africa is tipping the scales

I honestly wish that the book, "Africa the Shackled Continent" will be made a set-work book in schools. In this book it talks about what kills a country, not over-population, or unemployment but CORRUPTION.

what i'd like to know, is why the head of the NPA has not been held in contempt of court. Judges have had people locked up when their cell phones ring in court, and yet nothing happens to the head of the NPA???

We will never stop paying for the government, they all so corrupt it's actually sad. We will work hard so they can waste our hard earned money whenever they feel like it. Makes me so mad.
