The judgment in the Oscar Pistorius trial started on Thursday and may wrap up today or tomorrow. I would love to hear your thoughts on what you have heard so far and your reaction as soon as we do have the judgment. This has certainly been the most talked about trial, not only in South Africa, but in the world for the last year and while whoever loses will no doubt appeal it is time now to hear what the court has to say!

I haven't had a moment to read the judgment as of yet, but I am not surprised by the verdict. I'm not sure why so many people say he has not be punished sufficiently as we are still to hear as to how many years he must spend in jail. There is still a possibility of a harsh prison sentence.

I thought the judgement was fair especially with the evidence that was presented. I think it is definitely a victory for the state, although they did not get him on murder he was still guilty of culpable homicide. Lets just hope that he doesn't get something like a slap on the wrist suspended sentence - which I'm betting he will. I must say just when I thought the judge was lenient... she came out and suprised us. I however am no expert but think she really contradicted herself - perhaps on purpose for grounds for an appeal later? Either way, I am just glad the trial is almost over and we can stop speaking about South Africa's own OJ Simpson.

I'm not surprised as to Judge Masipa's judgement. I personally feel that she explained her reasons behind each decision well. It's extremely tragic that Reeva's life had to end so early in her life and so tragically but the state could prove without doubt that he committed murder with intent. If Oscar did not intend on murdering her he should also not be sentenced for it. The law cannot get emotionally involved, it has to base its decision on facts. People are allowing their emotions to be the judge as opposed to the facts on the table.

I actually just can't deal with all the hype around this trial. People have become so consumed with Oscar's judgement its actually crazy. There are murders and crimes all around us daily, but we have to learn to live with it. Criminals in our country get away with a lot worse, so why the persistence for Oscar?
It seems to me that people have engrossed themselves in Oscar's life and are thriving on his unhappiness. Yes, he did kill Reeva, nothing can take that away, yes, it is a great tragedy and nothing about what happened makes anything right. But life goes on.
We are all individuals fighting a battle in our lives, and instead of dealing with our own downfalls and our own circumstances, we turn our focus and insist on seeing someone else suffer. Oscar will suffer for the rest of his life, there is no easy way out of this whether he murdered her in cold blood or negligently, the fact remains that he killed her and that will be on his conscience for the rest of his life, and that in itself is great punishment.
We as humans hate to be judged by others, but yet we can judge when we "think" its deserved. So all I can say now is..... He who has never done anything wrong, and he who is perfect in every way.... feel free to judge!

Knew he would get off, we have no justice system in this country, especially for the rich and famous. Absolutely pathetic!

Very bitter pill to swallow with this judgment. Disappointed at the state's evidence and our justice system. Reeva's family must be absolutely besides themselves as it certainly does seem that he will be walking away free.

I see a lot of people are emotionally involve with this trial and it's quiet funny how everyone's opinion changes and how upset they get. I believe the people out there who was stressing that he will be charge with murder feels relieve. And those who believed he killed her intentionally feels angered that justice is not served. I believe this trial has done a lot of damage to him as person and his career and I still think he is suffering not the way some wanted but going through life and knowing you killed someone and the whole world knows it too, will eat you up inside eventually. Like I said his emotion suffering is not over. I just don't understand how people put them self in a position like this? Seriously ......

I have to say, as much as the public is seemingly "outraged" that Oscar was found not guilty of murder, the fact is, is that the State could not unfortunately prove beyond reasonable doubt that he was guilty on the charge of murder. I don't completely disagree with her Judgment so far, and would like to read the actual judgment to get more insight, as i have unfortunately only heard snippets of the judgment.

I think the judgement is pathetic, but on a good note, I can now go kill someone and get away with it if I cry like a baby.
