I must say that some of these websites tend to infuriate me. In particular, I’ve had some experiences with HelloPeter where, although they ultimately dealt with and responded to my complaints, that we have been subjected to complaints which are clearly laid by competitors. Interestingly enough, one of our competitors had a number of obviously fake compliments and some complaints listed against their name, and all of them were removed last year by the administrators of HelloPeter. They have never given me an answer as to why.
At de Broglio Inc we almost never get complaints about updating clients, because we have an unsurpassed updating system, nor about anything else of actual consequence, but we tend to get complaints that allege that an unnamed person at our office, whose name they cannot remember, either did not want to help them, or that we did not bother to assist them and take on their case. In terms of the HelloPeter procedures one is entitled to then contact the person to try and resolve it and what I find interesting is that whenever there is what appears to me to be a malicious complaint, I find that the person on the other side will not actually answer the calls or reply to messages. A recent complainant complained that we were not interested in his claim and did not bother to help him and when we pointed out that even now he still does not answer his phone or reply to any SMS messages, he just blithely replied that he has terrible phone reception where he is and cannot reply to any of his messages! One wonders how, on a serious note, such a “potential client” ever intended doing business with us or expected us to be able to call them back and discuss the matter further, if they could not do so in repeated calls trying to follow up their complaint? I have no doubt that HelloPeter can play a valuable role, although one wonders why one has to pay, as a company, to have the right to reply to complaints, but they certainly need to spend a lot more time removing invalid and nonsensical complaints which in most cases have clearly been laid by a competitor.
From a personal point of view, I have not found HelloPeter useful, other than if there are an extraordinary number of complaints all about the same company. For example, if you wanted to look into various cellular companies and who you are going to have the least problems with, HelloPeter is not really going to help you – because you are going to find that the complaints about the different companies, to a large extent correlate to their business share. In other words, if you are a big business, of course you are going to have complaints and Cell C is obviously going to have much less complaints than Vodacom is, because Cell C has a much smaller share of the market. It is only when the complaints are out of all proportion to that company’s share of the market that it would send out a signal.
In another case a client, who subsequently withdrew the complaint, who complained on HelloPeter that although we advertise to help people we could not help in her case. We had to politely point out to her that the reason we could not help with the loss of support case, relating to her late husband’s death, is that the evidence showed that he was drunk at the time when he crashed his motorbike and unfortunately passed away. So, people’s complaints, while they may sometimes be sincere, unfortunately on closer investigation have nothing to do with what the actual facts of the case are.

I have been ripped off by two Debt Review Companies in Bellville Cape Town Jacobs International and South African Debt Counselors. The two companies promised to remove my name from Debt Care review company listed me at the credit bureau. They both let me pay them and do nothing about the matter. I lost R4 000.00 to Jacobs and International and R2500.00 from South African Debt Councellors. These companies are a scam

I think hellopeter is very helpfull and easy to get attention from companies beacause they respond immediately even if they have been ignoring you and I find it inappropriate and unprofessional to be upset for your clients because of the complain they lodged about your company there's no reason or what do ever got a report to cause animosity however that depends how professional you are and your business ethics and morals nobody is perfect

I have never used HelloPeter, Have never had too luckily. It is despicable that companies would make fake profiles for competitors. Give them a bad name, but people are pathetic. I know when buying a product or service, it is good to just check what you might be in for

it's a scam.
people get to complain all they like, and in order to respond, companies have to pay. talk about holding people to ransom.
have never bothered with the site, and never will.
load of crap in my opinion.

I like Hellopeter, it makes companies answer very quickly to something they otherwise will drag for months. it also will give trouble to the person who is responsible for "dragging" or bad attitude. it helps managers to identify quickly who is the rotten apple in the firm if customers complain about that particular person.
but some companies have no pride to such extent they wont bother to reply at all .

I have used hello peter a few times and must say that the quick response from the companies I have complained about was quick but still the queries have not been sorted. For example in 2009 we were hijacked and my ID was in my handbag, a few months later I checked my credit record and was surprised to see that I have a loan with FNB, I have never applied for a loan with FNB and don't even have an account with them. I phoned FNB and they confirmed that I have an account with them after giving my ID nr. Then I when to the FNB trying to sort this they send me to the Germiston branch were the account was opened. When we got the the service was already crappy then after taking all my detail birth certificated, affidavit and certified ID copy we left and I haven't heard a thing from them. After a year I started receiving calls that I should pay my account that is behind before they hand me over after shouting and throwing a tantrum I complained on Hello peter. They came back to me quickly and after giving all the details yet again because they lost the details I have provided they still phone me to pay the account. I mean how bad is it that the bank doesn't even know that they have a fraudulent ID and still don't do a thing about it. So sometimes I LOOOVVE Hello Peter but haven't used the service in a very long time and I have always tried sorting the problem out before complaining on Hello peter and I think it's nonsense that they don't leave details about them self after complaining and being so sneaky. They tarnish reputations and I think if you can't leave details they shouldn't allow your complain. I also agree with Liesl..... Should be interesting if the have a complain about a client/customer......

I haven't used Hello Peter before but i think it's the best way to see which company to use who has allot of complaints against them and who hasn't. But on the other hand you get people who complain about petty things. Maybe the best is to complain at the company self and then list them on hello peter as well.

I have never used HelloPeter because I will use a service myself and if it was bad then I would complain to the company itself. I also find it to be a tedious procedure complaining through HelloPeter.
I suppose it will be useful for complimenting companies though.

I am absolutely shocked that competitors would write nonsense on Hello Peter. I find Hello Peter useful as a consumer because it gives us the platform to voice our frustrations. I recently went to my local grocery store which happens to be a huge company - PicknPay Northcliff Corner. I was shocked at the service the cashier gave me nevermind giving me the wrong airtime after I asked several times Are you sure this is "telkom mobile air time" and not landline. When I got home I tried to load it but it wouldn't work. I went back to the store where the manager was rude and at first refused to refund me and take back the incorrect unused airtime. Eventually he threw R150 out of his own wallet without an apology etc. I went to Hello Peter. I received a call from the company and was informed that regional office would follow it up... however they still have not. Fact of the matter is that I got my complaint out there and will not be using that grocery store again.

I think it is disgraceful that companies use Hello Peter to create fake complaints to tarnish the names of their competitors. If they used the time they spent faking their compliments and faking complaints, perhaps they could improve their own service.
I have used Hello Peter only once, after weeks and weeks of calls to Makro regarding a dryer that I ordered and was never delivered despite full payment and promises everyday that it would be delivered the next day. No one responded to my complaint. I thus think that De Broglio offers superior service to its clients, as many other businesses are incredibly nonchalant towards the complaints of their customers.

If more people start taking on the "billboard" approach, will our customer service change or will it become a larger version of HelloPeter. I found in the beginning HelloPeter worked wonders, now people don't really care about it. Oh there are people who love to complain and they will frequent the site but, generally, do people really go onto the site to see if a company they are approaching is worth it or not?????

Hello Peter has it's pro's and con's. But to be honest, I would not waste my time tarnishing a company on a website. Every person's experience with a company is different and I think that it is sometimes really unnecessary to put a complaint up just because something never went your way once.
I used Hello Peter once before, and it was not to complain but to compliment on service i received. There are just way too many disgruntled people in this world and I find it disturbing that you would complain a company on social media or a website?
But again, everyone has different opinions about everything.

Oeee ... I agree with Liezl! I understand that the public pay for certain services and therefore expect a certain standard to be upheld. But can you just imagine if there is a "Complain about a Consumer" website. It might inspire some consumers to be a bit more polite in their dealings with their service providers. I have witnessed some really appalling behavior from consumers towards staff that are just doing their jobs within the confines of the specifications drilled into them.

I'm sure majority of the posts are complaints, and a lot of people use Hello Peter in deciding whether to use a company or not.
But adding to Bianca's comment regarding the gentleman's public banner displaying his outrage with the service of Cell C, I have a Cell C contract and the service I received at the store was great, quick and had no problems.
I guess whenever there has been a complaint about a company's service or product, as mentioned in your blog there is always a story behind a story. Some truthful and others misleading.

Wouldn't it be a nice reversal if firms had a website available to complain about bad customers and problem makers. Having been involved in after sales service in the motor industry many years ago we learnt that some members of public just simply complain about everything making trouble with other businesses in their daily life dealings. Often when we started investigating we found that other service providers in our field of service had their hands full with the same person at some point.

I have to say - many people have far too much time of their hands to sit and moan about everything! I can understand if you can back your claim up but a lot of the claims are frivolous. I have never laid a complaint against any company, when I have experienced bad service, I have contacted the company directly and it has been resolved. Perhaps I don't have high expectations in terms of service delivery, but I do not complain very often. I have to agree with Bianca, that whole issue with Cell C has been very interesting, and hopefully Cell C will investigate the complaint and actually do something about its poor service, well as alleged.

I find that HelloPeter is a very fast way of getting answers from Banks and Cellular Networks that you find difficult getting out of them from customer care lines. I have posted one complaint on HelloPeter and got a response and phone call back within minutes. I would like to make more use of this tool but when you see the amount of complaints regarding service delivery, there is not much more that you can say that hasn't been said.

I think hellopeter is a very good site that actually helps people get action when trying with the company themselves wont. However they shouldn't allow people to hide who they are, if the complaint is genuine then obviously they wouldn't, seriously when other companies try make other companies look bad, that is just pathetic and people like that should be banned from the site for good.

HelloPeter is extremely useful if you want to compliment or complain about a company. I have posted numerous complaints on HelloPeter regarding cell phone providers and every complaint has been answered and attended to. I do however think that the complaints far outweigh the compliments for a lot of companies. A civilian recently went way beyond HelloPeter and put up his own billboard smashing Cell C. I was quite impressed at the response and the court's findings to throw out the urgent application by Cell C.
