Bill Cosby sex scandal

More and more celebrities are making the news for hings they allegedly did in their past.  Recent sex scandals in the UK indicated that many used their fame to try and convince teenagers and would be actresses or singers into bed.  Bill Cosby, who is now 77, has just seen more women emerge in the US alleging that they were drugged and raped or sexually assaulted by him.  He and his lawyers have denied the allegations, but the sheer numbers make one think.

Channels have stopped showing repeats of The Cosby Show, appearances on David Letterman’s show as well as that of Queen Latifah have been cancelled and NBC and Netflix have cancelled or postponed up-coming shows.  Some accusers have made it clear that they are raising the allegations too late now for action to be taken, but they just want them known.  An actress on one of the shows he did in the 80’s says she believes she was drugged and sexually assaulted when she was 15.  The one common theme they all allege is that after they had drinks with him, they would pass out.

This is so sad... I don't see why the stories are only surfacing now though...

I don't understand why people are questioning why it took so long for these women to speak out- they were probably teenagers when it happened (if it happened) and are now being judged as adults.
There are women that never speak out about being raped so I can just imagine how much harder it would be to speak up against somebody with such stature and influence and to still do so publicly. If these reports are true, I take my hat off to these women for having the courage to speak up in spite of the knowledge that they might be judged, ridiculed or accused of lying.

This is indeed disturbing for luck of a better word! These are the people you look upto and to hear this rape /sex scandals just makes one question every other person and not really trust at all. They must be punished dearly for their actions whatever age they are. How would they feel it was their own kids that these things were done to? So they must put themselves in those parents shoes.

Surely the more appropriate headline would be "rape scandal"? A sex scandal brings to mind some story of naughty behaviour between people who should not be doing the dirty, but there is consent implied. (Ie: Bill Clinton/Ms Lewinsky) What your story is about is vastly different than the tabloid fodder the headline implies.

I hope this is not true because he is always surrounded by kids so you can just imagine what would happened and again it is sad to see what people do or have to go through to be famous

I'm not a Bill Cosby Fan but I do hate when people start a trend of accusations when one person decides to open their mouths. Its like when one person goes and hits another person and a trend starts with people throwing in punches from all directions. Another thing that I feel that celebrity's also do is make up stories to get noticed and be in the spotlight again. I wouldn't know whether it was true or not, but decades later coming out in the open makes it harder to prove, so why even bother. If they opened their mouths earlier, they could have also probably prevented someone like this being in contact with other young ladies and even children!

What a shame. Clearly he should have been more careful with his activities. Still I think he is a good actor and I loved his show. Very funny guy

Rape is a very serious allegation and I cannot imagine how someone could lie about it. I don't think anyone can be in a position to judge why a person would choose not to come out about it/ choose to speak out about it years later unless they themselves have been in such a situation.

The whole story is awful.

I agree, why only come out with it now?? I also understand that it takes a lot of guts to come forward with such a horrible thing, but still I think these women should have come forward with this when it happened

I love Bill Cosby he is so funny and I loved to watch his shows. Hopefully its not true but since I heard about Stephen Collins from 7th Heaven who is accused of child molestation I guess it can be true. But why now only? If it happened so long ago why did she not tell anyone? I mean he is old now and doesn't need this now... I think this is only to get some face time

I am so over the Hollywood life style, everyone wants to be famous some way or another. How they get there names can actually make me sick, the guy is so old now an more then likely sitting some where on a beach having a milkshake. "People"

Why are they only coming forward now? If it is true it will be a such a shame. They maybe want the frame and I hope they going to investigate these allegations.

Just because there are a number of people saying it does not mean it is true. People jump on the bandwagon just for thrills. Secondly, a lesson to be learnt, don't do things that could haunt you in the future.

Quite shameful and I must agree with Anna - only years later they come out with the allegations. Another star was an actor on my favourite show when I was younger - Seventh Heaven. Stephen Collins has also been accused by a few ladies. Its sad, I never liked the Bill Crosby show much but it was huge and I remember it being on TV when I was younger.

I always question why it takes women years (or decades) in this case to come forward with their accusations. What do they want to happen to him now? He's 77 years old and has lived a superstar, privileged lifestyle up until now. Rolf Harris, another celebrity whom I looked up to in my early childhood, was imprisoned earlier this year on the basis of similar charges, and he is also in his 70s. These women should have come forward years ago so that, if found guilty, Bill and Rolf could rot away in jail for a lot longer minus the status they have successfully enjoyed for so long.

I am sad to say the least. I absolutely loved this man's comedy, saw him live at Sun City. If it is true, it just shows you that the truth always comes out and that the past is not always the past. Let this be a lesson to anyone who preys on others, their secrets will eventually come out.
