Attorney Michael de Broglio on: South Africa, Law, Politics, Attorneys, Sport, Photography, Technology, Gadgets, Media, Crime, Road Accidents Fund,

I am delighted to hear that a coroner in London is apparently considering reopening the inquest into Anni Dewani’s death. Obviously, the criminal trial in South Africa has been dealt with but the UK authorities are fully entitled to hold an inquest and if they do decide to hold such inquest, there is a good chance that Dewani will have to answer certain questions under oath. He obviously avoided that in his trial in South Africa so it will be very interesting to see what happens next in this story. Most South Africans have, I believe, very strong opinions about the man and the case which featured a very poor prosecution and even worse witnesses. On the other hand one is allowed in such hearings to avoid any answer that may incriminate you – but on his version he did nothing wrong so hopefully his lawyers won’t be taking that stance at all.

Double Jeopardy - but yeah, maybe we did not do a sufficient job which does not surprise me. I must admit that i did not follow this case at all, It is a pity that Anni lost her life, but the risks you take coming to SA or living in SA are high

The UK are within their rights to hold an inquiry into the death of one of their citizens. It might also show what they think of the way our country dealt with the entire matter.

Annie deserves justice, our courts failed her entirely. In my opinion he has guilty written all over him and if he is he shouldn't get away with it. Annie deserves at least that.

I believe that Dewani is guilty of the crime that was committed because even before the trial, he was full of excuses of being sick and suffering from PTSD, I just see it as an act of someone who is trying to avoid the reality of the crime. He is guilty of the crime and I believe that he should sit a while behind bars, you do the crime, you do the time...

I hope that the UK, get to the truth of the matter. If he is guilty, and our courts failed Annie, hopefully their courts will not let her have died in vain. I have always thought him guilty, but that is just my opinion.

If that were my daughter I would not sleep until Justice was served. If I knew that police were not doing their job correctly which ultimately caused injustice on my daughter, I would seek other options to make him pay. His decision to take their daughter's life has tortured them and probably for the rest of their lives so why should he not pay for the rest of his life even if it means opening the same case again and having a better job being done with it.

I hear what David is saying but his guilty so I hope the UK takes it further and holds an inquest. I'm sure the deceased's family will push for it, I surely hope so. It will be quite interesting to see what he has to say.

I did not think the UK would leave it at that, they have some form of justice. Unlike our country.

I think this guy needs to his time, if he had people kill his wife, its the same as doing the kill.
