Petrol to go up again

The price of petrol is stabilizing.  The price of unleaded 95 petrol is R12,89 at the moment and it looks like we are heading to a drop of about 14 cents per litre in May.  It will depend on the basic fuel price as well as the exchange rate in the last week of the month.  The currency obviously has a huge impact - although it is sad to say at around R12,00 to the Dollar, has been relatively stable for the month.  It was after all R6,50 to the Dollar only 7 or 8 years ago and if it was that strong now we would be paying considerably less.  We are still fortunately below the peak petrol prices of R14 that we saw a year ago but I do think at some time in the future we will see international prices go up and if that is combined with a weak rand R14 and even R15 a litre will be breached.

It's not even a shock anymore to hear that it will be increasing, always lovely to hear that it will be decreasing but it's never for a lot. Just best to get used to it and to customize your living now with everything that will be increasing.

I really cannot keep up with the petrol prices changing every 5 minutes, it is so much harder if you live alone and have to buy food and put in petrol to get to work, one of these days we will be working just for petrol money and a packet of Simba chips.

It was so awesome when Petrol was at R10.00 a Litre in December. Petrol also increases all other necessities that a household needs and life is just becoming too expensive. I agree with Michelle, soon we won't be able to go anywhere and have fun because it will be just too costly....

Can't they put some sort of a technology device in our cars not to use petrol, I know about the new cars that's coming out that you recharge but instead of buying a new car they must do something with the existing cars.

The more petrol goes up the less luxury`s. One of these days I will never leave my house

I am so tired of the petrol price - how much one can afford. We have survived it before, I suppose we shall survive it again

I really hope that petrol price will just stay the way it is now, not jump up and down, last year this price was changing every month that was the reason why prices on other things went up specially food becoming very expensive today.

I guess there really is no point in complaining, like Charlotte commented: Cut down on those luxuries!

The petrol price drops and then increases, it is just the way that the cookie crumbles. I was very relieved to hear that there will be no increase this month at least. Petrol unfortunately is a necessity and there really is nothing that one can do if the petrol price rises. The only solution is to lower your budget for luxury items.

It's just going to keep increasing and decreasing... Every month it changes. Whether up or down, something is happening.

Liesl  said:

Although we know when the price of petrol drops its inevitable that it will increase again and normally the increases add up to be being more than what the initial decrease was but I still value those short breaths of air that we are given now and then, even if only for just a moment it helps.

The price of petrol is already shocking whether it is dropping or increasing. If they drop the petrol price something else will go up. so in the end its all the same.

I think that we're so used to the petrol price dropping and increasing, that at the end of the day it makes no difference. We've been used to paying high prices for everything nowadays. Guess we need to cut down even further on luxuries.......

I have to say you quickly get used to a price drop, as it certainly makes a hudge difference in a tank of Petrol every month. I can just hope that the price would come down again and that our Rand would strenghten.
