As somebody who has written quite a lot in the past about healthy eating, it is interesting to read about the problems that the McDonalds brand is experiencing, not only around the world, but largely in America where it is listed on their Stock Exchange. Of the 29 analysts who cover McDonalds’ share, only 7 recommend buying it, which is the bleakest outlook the share has ever had. MacDonalds has lost a lot of business to what they call “fast casual food” which is fast-food with good prices but with slightly better quality than plain fast-food giants. One of the bigger winners in that regard would be Chipotle Mexican Grill. The bottom is that sales and earnings are falling at McDonalds and I think we are going to see more of this with the fast-food giants as people move more towards healthier living, which, even if it is not a big issue now, would certainly become a bigger on in the decades ahead. I would no sooner invest in a McDonalds’ share than I would in a cigarette company – although I think a cigarette company will actually have more potential for future profit!

I don't really like McDonalds. I would much rather have Burger King or Steers or have a proper gourmet burger from The Wolfpack or Dukes instead. I only eat McDonalds when I am really hungry and there is NOTHING else to eat... Those stats are surprising to me. I thought it would be higher because of how big the brand is. Although, they do have competition...

I think it has more to do with the fact that there are more fast chain burger joints than ever before like Burger King, Dukes Burgers, The Wolfpack. I even love The Whippet in Linden's burgers! All are far more expensive than Mc Donalds but are tastier. I must agree with Charlotte, there is nothing like a home made burger! Where you know exactly how it was made, clean lettuce, fresh tomatoes, sliced up jalapeƱos and chopped peppadew peppers! YES PLEASE!

MacDonalds was never really our favourite as a family. We tried it once, and was actually horrified by the size of the meal. One would need to buy 3 meals to actually be fed properly. No wonder only 7 recommended buying it!! People should try and make their own burgers at home, much more tastier, healthier and fresher!

Today it is just about the name only, everyone remember how good was before MacDonalds, the prices are always great and tasty, but what about the quality of this food. I was watching American programme other day about what Doctors are not recommending to eat and on the list was MacDonalds chips, these chips cannot even digest in our system properly. I would say MacDonalds is out of my list long time ago.

I am actually shocked to hear this but very happy at the same time. I thought everyone was just obsessed with MacDonalds but luckily this shows people are actually moving towards a healthier lifestyle. All I can say about the fast-fast food places, where you get a "cooked" burger in under a minute, is "grey" patties Yuk Yuk Yuk!

Not the biggest fan of MacDonalds at all, not only is their food extremely unhealthy, their menu isn't inviting at all.

I heard that they were losing money. I am not surprised, people these days want to be healthy and MacDonalds is not at all. So if they change their ways and become healthier, then they would have more of a chance

If you want healthy living stay away from these fast food restaurants. I understand that it is quick and convenient but not always as nutritious as a cooked meal.

Macdonalds must have a bigger menu to add more healthier foods. But I would rather eat Burger King or KFC then Macdonalds.

I think the solution to their problem will be that McDonalds shoud just provide more healthier food. There for they will keep more customers happy.

I do not eat MacDonalds, purely for the lack of quality. It's disgusting,

I don't eat fast food - if I do, it's usually on the to-go-coffee or a salad if there is no time to stop at a restaurant or too lazy to whip something up. So this does not phase me

If MacDonalds wants to do better it should make effort to make their food better with a better great taste.
