I love all these health surveys and certainly they often tend to contradict each other, but they do reveal some interesting facts. Researchers followed 200,000 nurses and doctors up to 30 years on their coffee habit, amongst other habits, and they have discovered that more coffee that people drink, the more their risk of dying of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and suicide was reduced. They said they could not find the association though in smokers because the negatives of smoking overwhelm any of the benefits from drinking coffee, but those for example who had three to five cups of coffee a day had a 15% reduced risk of death from heart disease. I find that caffeine unfortunately triggers me off if I get correspondence or e-mails that I don’t like but if I have coffee while I am on holiday, it does not affect me at all. It is obviously because coffee contains caffeine and it stimulates your adrenal glands to produce adrenalin. Coffee is a stimulant and there is no doubt that it can get some people quite worked up, not to mention increasing your blood pressure. Like everything, it is a question of what you can handle and using in moderation!

I only drink 2-3 cups a day at the most but now that I know it can give cellulite I will think twice before having a second cup

Like anything to do with health and diet these days one has to look carefully at who conducted the research and more importantly who sponsored it. common sense dictates that the coffee industry would have a vested industry in their product appearing to be safe and carry health benefits. Also the ratio of male to female respondents, age distribution, income etc. will also play key roles. It is unwise to say that simply because one drinks coffee you lower your risk of heart disease by 15%. Moderation is key

I once heard that coffee increased risk of death from heart disease, it is good to know that that is actually opposite of what I heard

i am a coffee addict. no matter how much i try to give it up, i go back to it. would caffeine addiction be similar to nicotine addiction ?i now understand people who try to give up smoking and how hard it is to give it up. i can only imagine how poor drug addicts feel ,drugs must be million times harder to give up.

I don't drink coffee everyday, Only when I study to keep me awake. NOT having coffee first thing in the morning doesn't bother me anymore.

I don't drink coffee at all, the taste just never appealed to me, but after reading that it could reduce heart decease and Kaylee's comment about it speeding up ones metabolism, I definitely think I might try it out more often!

I love coffee, although when I drink too much coffee I get edgy and in a bad mood. But if I don't drink coffee it's worse, so its a catch 22. I think coffee speeds up your metabolism and apparently it's a good idea to drink coffee right before a work out as you burn more calories. I love the taste of coffee and I am not human in the mornings unless I have had my fix. Although I see people drink coffee and smoke at the same time and that makes you extremely moody and on edge, but I guess we can't say smoking is good for you.

I do NOT drink coffee. It causes yellow discolouring of the teeth and cellulite. These two negatives outweigh any positives coffee might have.

You always have to use in moderation. Personally I have stopped drinking coffee because I read that caffeine especially in coffee can give you cellulite.

The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is making myself a nice steaming cup of filter coffee. I cannot function when I don't have that very first cup. Sometimes, when I can't sleep, I'll make myself a cup of coffee, and somehow it calms me down and helps me go to sleep. Then I wake up at night with terrible heartburn! See, pro's and cons.......
