DW 11-13 is a restaurant in the Dunkeld shopping centre. It is one that regularly features on the list of top restaurants in South Africa, and that in itself is quite rare, because most of the list is dominated by restaurants in Cape Town. In short that makes it one of the op, if not the best, restaurant in Johannesburg.
I recently finally got around to eating there, because on previous occasions when I had called they were full, and I was not disappointed. In fact it was better than I expected and I had a wonderful lunch with some friends. There are times when you are eating and when you just know that the meal has not been prepared by a team of grillers in the back, but by somebody who actually has a flair, not only for the presentation of the food, but for the taste and where you have an explosion of different tastes in your mouth. You just know that the person behind the scenes is a truly talented chef, in this case it is Marthinus Ferreira. I had the pork belly, which was superb, but I am told that their Wellington chicken is also magnificent and then I spoiled myself with a peanut butter ice cream which went with some delicious wafer-type of thing – I cannot really describe it properly - I am not a food critic. but if you want a fine dining experience in Johannesburg where your meal is prepared by a person who really knows how to cook, this is a must go to restaurant!

It was quite an unforgettable experience when we were invited by Flip Diedericks to this restaurant for lunch. Definitely a place I will recommend for a special dinner.

Sounds fantastic, I will need to save up for that kind of meal though as I'm sure their meals matches the prices and I'm in the same boat as David.

I would like to try it out, but it's probably very hard to get a seating in there. I have a cousin who is a chef for the cruise ships and she is doing very well for herself and the people love her food too.

I love a good resturant with great food - It's the kind of resturant you don't stop raving about and keep thinking about going back. I wouldn't mind spending a dine if its worth it - although I am not really big on eating a full course meal - more like a tasting kinda gal.

It sounds like something I would enjoy, I love trying different types of food and if the dessert was good, I am definitely going to give it a try, however it would have to be on quite a special occasion!

I think they're going to have strong competition from Marble now that it has finally opened. All food is cooked on an open flame. Absolutely sublime eating experience from the freshly baked, warm bread brought to the table, the well mannered staff, the extensive wine menu and the adventurous, tasty menu from head chef David Higgs. I had lamb chops with all sorts of trimmings for a my main course - they were delicious. For dessert I had a brandy snap sandwich filled with pineapple and chilli ice cream - perfect way to end the meal. The view is incredible and the barmen are well worth a second glance. It's the new hot spot in town. Prices may shock some!

I am a pescatarian and often the menu is very limited in this regard. I'd be interested to see if this restaurant could whip up a meat-free speciality. Will try it out

For me there is nothing worse than a bad meal. If I am hungry, I want to eat good satisfying food, as there is nothing worse than being brought a plate of food that was slapped together by a griller who has worked long hours and is just pushing orders through. If this restaurant's food is as good as you say, then I would not mind not spending the money once in a while on a great meal there.

The first time I went to DW 11-13 was when we were invited by one of our experts, and what a great experience it was. We had the tasting menu, and it was definitely out of this world. I had to go back and experience it again. I love good food, another restaurant that I love is La Mouette in Cape Town, they also have a tasting menu where you get to experience different french cuisines. Some people enjoy spending their money on clothes, clubs, etc, I love spending my money on good food, and wine!
