Apple launches new phones – iPhone 8

Today Apple is holding a product launch event and normally this is when one can expect to see the latest and greatest iPhone!  There have been a lot of rumours about what is going to be released on this occasion, including rumours that it will include a new model with a $1,000 price tag, or in other words, about 15% higher than the current iPhones that are available and it might be known as iPhone X.

Apparently, there will also be updated versions of the iPhone 7 as well as the iPhone 7+.  The iPhone 8/X model will be a lot more advanced than the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7+ and the iPhone 8 is going to turn most of the front of the phone into a screen.  Others say that the phone will include a glass body, the full screen which I refer to is known as an edge-to-edge OLED display that totally does away with the home button.  It is likely to have a faster A11 chip and possibly facial recognition and wireless charging.  They say the front-facing camera might include advanced 3D sensing capabilities.

Apple have kept this franchise going for 10 years but its going to become harder and harder to surprise us.  Personally I also hope the camera gets upgraded and the pics get bigger in terms of size and detail.

Let me guess... The lame joke is coming back: "What happened to iPhone 9? 7 8 9..."
What ever happened to companies producing their products in numerical order? Windows jumped from 8 to 10 and now Apple too? Maybe it's just my OCD. Or is the name due to their 10th anniversary?
Either way, I won't be getting the iPhone 8 or X - whatever they decide to call it.

I think that Apple has done well for itself -when it was initially released 10 years ago Blackberry and Nokia were the leaders of the industry and its clear that Apple is now the leader of the pack.

I think the facial recognition will be very cool, Apple is awesome but very expensive, I am back to Samsung for now.

My dad is teh only one in our family who has an iPhone. I struggle with the iPhoner as I am use to my Samsung. If the iPhines weren't as expensive I probably would have had one but paying that much for a phone I feel is not worth it.

I recently bought an iPhone because I just couldn't deal with my Samsung anymore, and now I am already behind with the iPhone 8 coming out. One can never stay ahead when it comes to cellphone models. I must say I have been very happy with my iPhone and will stick to it.

One thing I like about Samsung cell phones, is the quality of the camera. This is one feature I hope Apples improves with the iPhone 8.

I have never had an iPhone not really interested in getting one either. As far as I understand they are quite costly and not as friendly, though I could be wrong

I always wanted an IPhone until I was told how costly they are. I would prefer to sit with a simple phone that can send messages and take calls and that's all that matters to me.

I really can’t seem to keep up with Apple, the new iPhone 8 is probably going to be the phone of the year. No doubt it is going to be an expensive buy! It is still exciting to see what the major changes will be and what the reviews and comments will be like after the first lot of people purchase it!

I have the iPhone 6s at the moment, I can say that it is extremely pricey to try and stay up to date with having the latest iPhone every year that the new one is released! I normally only upgrade every 2 years so I always miss a iPhone in between! Next year I will be looking at the iPhone 8 and I am super excited to enjoy the new features and upgrades! I did however see that Apple are going to release a special limited edition iPhone in the near future which also looks quite good.

When I upgrade I'm going to try the S8 Samsung, I currently have the S7 Edge and I'm loving the phone. The iPhone sounds amazing but I'm going to stick to my Samsung for now

Huge fan of Apple and my iphone but I wont be running out to buy the latest one. There are far too many new ones coming out too often. It is, however, impressive!

I have read that this model will not necessarily be as readily available and with the high price tag - I think that this phone will be more of status symbol than a technological advancement? BUT this is all 'leaked' information - so I will await to see the actual product launch.

iPhone is a really nice phone to have, but when it breaks or starting to give you problems than it's not that nice anymore. iPhones are really expensive to fix. I will stick with my Samsung

With all the latest phones/computers, etc that come onto the market, one should not have to sign a contract anymore but rather rent a phone on a month-to-month basis so that you can keep up with the latest trends. It is scary how quickly technology changes and how quickly things become updated. I am still sitting on the LG G5, which by now is outdated already and I only signed my 2 year contract in February 2017.

My Huawei phone kept with me the longest than any other phone. And with a one year old in the house, it’s surviving just fine. An IPhone is much too complicated for me and too many expenses as well. So I’ll just stick with what I have at the moment.

I am loyal to Samsung and I think it will take a lot to change that. The more screen there is the more breakable it is...that is a big concern for me.

Still not a fan off I Phone but I also think its going to get harder for them to surprise I phone users. As well as coming up with new features for an I phone.

IPhone is the best. I will never use another phone again. I can't wait to see this new phone I will definitely want to upgrade to one of those. Just as you think it can’t get any better they surprise us. I also hope that the quality of the cameras get better that's the only thing that's not excellent.

the already released S8 has done away with the home button, has an edge to edge screen, facial and retina recognition etc etc etc. seems like apple is following rather than leading...

Never been an I phone fan but it is quite amazing to see how advanced technology/smartphones have become.
