iOS 11 launches today

iOS 11 is the latest version of the operating system from Apple and it will be available from tomorrow.  According to the Apple website, it makes the world’s most advanced mobile operating system even better.  It of course operates your iPad and your iPhone and it will certainly lead to huge amounts of downloads all around the world tomorrow!

The new features include a new Files app which allows you to search and organise all of your files in one place and works across your apps as well as other services like Dropbox.  It also has a new Dock for the iPad which now shows, across the bottom of any screen on your iPad, which will allow you now to open and switch any of the apps that you want immediately.  They also say it is easier to multitask now in many different ways and use a split view between two apps for example and you can also drag and drop on the iPad more easily by using a split screen with your e-mail and your photographs and it will allow you to drag and drop photographs into your e-mail.  It also makes the Apple Pencil more powerful than before when using it with your iPad which is quite useful sometimes if for example you are working on a PDF and want to make notes or marks and you can also use your Apple Pencil to take instant notes.  The Apple Pencil work with the iPad Pro – that is the huge iPad, so it is not something you can just get if you have any smaller iPad.

What I found quite interesting is the new document scanner which you can find in Notes, which scans documents for you, crops the edges and then allows you to sign it straightaway with the Apple Pencil!  That might just be a reason for me to purchase the iPad Pro – one always needs an excuse and that seems to be the one for me!  The keyboard is also changing, allowing you to now to see letters and number, symbols, etc all on the same keyboard, without you having to switch back and forth between the different keyboards.  I am sure there are a lot more features, and once you have seen some and tired them, please come back and comment on my blog.  I understand that live photos are changing, you will also be able to pay friends via Apple Pay by simply sending them a message, there will be new filters for the iPhone and a redesigned App Store.  Siri becomes more powerful and there is another feature that interests me, but I will deal with that tomorrow.

All these upgrades and there is still no Bluetooth to send media from one Apple device to another ='D Well at least Dropbox will be available...?
I might not have an iPhone but I know what a schlep it is to upgrade the software on one's device. Android is still the winner for me. My upgrade is due this weekend but we'll see if I decide to upgrade or not - I am still pretty happy with my current phone.

Next year they will be launching the new one and this one sounds amazing but come next the value will not be the same.

I am not really into the latest technology but the scanning and signing feature sounds impressive. I also have an app where one of the features is scanning and it does make life a bit easier.

That is a very good app to have I guess, especially if you a business man that likes to travel. Makes ones life a bit easier.

I'm sure all iPhone lovers are in awe. Still won't buy an iPhone as it's not a user friendly phone for me.

I have never been more impressed with a cell phone like I have with an IPhone. I have never experienced any software issues with it, as I have with other cell phone brands. I'm excited to see all the new features when I download the new iOS 11.

I love it when new software is released it just means that things are going to work faster and a few things will change and this is what makes using Apple products a lot of fun. They are constantly updating features to make the experience more enjoyable and user friendly!

The scanner sounds very interesting - dont really get into Apple - I do not see them as a friendly service to use and is not compatible with most things

It is such a mission attempting to keep up with all this technology. I am sure the iOS 11 is brilliant however I am a Samsung user and I will probably not make the switch anytime in spite of raving reviews.

I’m sure this is exciting news for the IPhone users

I do not usually get excited about the updates as it usually takes forever to complete and I have to make sure my phone is plugged in and at home - I just dread the update. However it will be interesting to see how things have changed and if it makes a significant difference. Will download tonight and provide further feedback.

Sounds great. This phone is basically a mobile laptop. :)

It seems complicated, I have never thought that IPhone was user friendly. I am sure that all IPhone users will enjoy this.

I sometimes loath updating my software because I'm not use to the display changes etc, but i must say that this one sounds much better and I am definitely looking forward to it.

I don't really know Apple ,although I had an apple Ipad I barely used it because its so different to a Samsung I'm use to Samsung I don't need to have a apple ID to download games or music so I'm okay with the Samsung. The apple sounds like a great phone but I know some of its features and I'm not really happy with the features

With the launch of the Apple X and now the launch of iOS 11, Apple are certainly trying to dominate this sector of the market - their advancements will lead to a massive increase in sales!

I am looking forward to downloading IOS 11 this evening and it is always so interesting to see the upgrades that have been made and the new features that have been added. It's crazy how we can convince ourselves that we need a newer gadget because of a feature, we have lived without it but suddenly you can imagine yourself in a world without the new gadget, I suppose that is what makes their money.

My opinion is I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 which is using Android version 6.0.1 and I get everything for free on Samsung, which on IPhone , you have to pay for everything.
