I tend to update all, when it comes to updates on my apps, but sometimes I read what has been added to the app. I think that is normally when I am sitting at a coffee shop and I have finished something else and I am perhaps slightly bored. It is quite interesting to read how some of the updates are described or how they read – for example, the YouTube update of 26 September was described in the App store as follows: “Fixed bugs, improved performance, took out the garbage, mowed the front lawn, and now we need a little map.”
In other words, the programmers are having quite a bit of fun describing what they have done sometimes, it is not all just about what they have updated and sometimes they give you a sizeable update with a description like that that tells you nothing about what they have actually just updated! Other times it is quite interesting, for example, the Uber update of 22 September said that it gives you more control over when you share your location with Uber. It goes on to say, “Now you can choose between ‘while using the app’, ‘always’ and ‘never’ in your location settings.” It is obviously informative and you will not always know what has happened with an app if you don’t read that. Most often they just describe it as bug fixes and performance improvements, but they do often have more information about what new features have been added or what has been changed.

My phone has automatic updates but I never intend reading what the app has been improved to I will just see there is a new feature.

I always update my apps but never really read what the improvements to the app are. I'll keep that mind, however, next time I do update my apps.

That is something I don't do. I never update my apps. Firstly I don't have enough space on my phone to update and it takes my data which I can rather use on something else. If I would update it would basically be my FNB app or my Fitbit - things that are more necessary to update. I have never read what was actually changed, I just trust that it would be better and nicer.

I don't update my apps as much as I should. it is something I need to pay more attention to in future.

Bahaha thats funny. i seldom read the updates for the apps, i mostly look at when my phones software is updated. the best is when you actually see on an app that it had been altered and updated. i know whatsapp you can see the updated. mostly the emocons.

I like being surprised by the "newness" of any app, like, goodness since when does Whatsapp have a status bar etc etc. As you've mentioned, this is what happens when we simply "update all" without looking at what the updates are actually for.

I only update apps that I actually use. I must be honest I don't always see the difference in the updates either. The only difference I see is my data usage.

I have to confess, I don’t ever read what the update is about, I only update the apps that I use on a regular basis.

My phone is set to update apps automatically when switching to wifi. I have never actually thought to consider what the update entails or what it even changes. I usually only notice if there are changes like emoticon updates or the home screen changes.

I think my phone updates all apps automatically when connected to the Wi-Fi at home. I must be honest, I sometimes don't even see the difference when an app is already updated. I never read the programmers information. I'll keep that in mind the next time and have a look.

I usually only update the apps I use often and most of the time I don't even notice what the update was for.

Often I do not even notice the difference once the app has been updated but it is weird that it is cryptic and never really tells us why we are updating. We just agree to the update & end of story... Just like most things, we never bother to read the T&C's etc

Normally I just update the apps that I'm using regularly and it also only happens when I'm connected to Wi-Fi. I don't look what they have changed to the app though.

I always hit update all but I have never bothered to read to the programmers information. If there is something worthwhile that has been added then I guess I will figure it out on my own eventually.

I always try to update all my applications on my device, it is so true that so interesting to see what programmers develop new and what other new options you can have on the applications.

I try to update all my apps when it is possible. I like to see what they did new to the app.

Wow, I have actually never read exactly what the update includes, well except my iPhone software update. When I initially got my phone, I set up that all apps update and not only selective apps, it just seems easier but I must be honest, I hardly make use of any of the apps on my phone. Oops

I only update an app if it can no longer be used on the older version. More often than not the updates are cosmetic.

I must say, I don't update all the apps. I seldom use all of them and, therefore, I only update those I tend to use a lot. I do, every now and then, update them all but that is more then than now. I recently updated waze because I find this a very useful app, however, the upgrade has left me somewhat disappointed. So, not always are the updates more valuable.

I always just let my app's update automatically if an update is needed, I have never actually checked why it’s being updated and what is being improved

I also update the apps that I use on a regular basis otherwise not really interested in doing that, but on the other hand is it important to update all your apps and know the importance and aspects of the app.

I have noticed that they don't really explain what they changing with the new update, I sometimes get frustrated with new display changes. it took me a long while to get use to or even start liking the new Whatsapp.

I am very selective when i update apps on my phone, i only update the ones I use, and I obviously do software updates on my phone as soon as the notification pops up, but never have I actually took the time to read what new features the app will have after the update.

Suppose uyou have to find some joy in what you do as well as make it interesting for the people who use the app. Nice to hear the change and them making a time out of it - I suppose it could become a bit tedious

I think it is important for the programmers to provide enough info with regards to what the update actually entails. I think very often, if not always, we update our apps without having a clue what has been updated, added or changed, because most often it is just something very small.

I also update all the apps on my phone, as they automatically do so when I am connected to the wifi at home, but I don't think I've ever read what they have updated. Now that I see how witty they can be, I might actually take some time and read some of them.
