There are a number of important things in the year ahead. Most importantly
the elections in May. Before that though there will be the Budget Speech
towards the end of February and the credit rating agencies will decide, once
again, on whether to keep South Africa's rating above junk level. Those
will all have a huge impact on the Rand and the economy as a whole.
On a less serious note though, there are some great sporting events ahead
for us including the Cricket World Cup which will be held in England and
Wales with the Final in London. That begins on 30 May and ends almost 6
weeks later on 14 July. Will we finally win a Cricket World Cup? The Rugby
World Cup, and I have written about Japan and rugby many times, will be held
in Japan this year. The Japanese are massive rugby fans and absolutely
deserve to hold the World Cup. The Rugby World Cup kicks off on 20
September with Japan playing Russia and that runs through until the Final on
Saturday, 2 November.
It will be a tremendously interesting year and those of you who are not
interested in politics or the economy have lots of sport and major events to
focus on!

A lot of things to look forward to this year. The thing I'm probably most excited about is the Rugby World Cup and all the braai's and get togethers supporting SA.

What a year ahead we have. I hope that everyone who can vote will vote, one vote can make a change. If of course we don't have the same bullocks that happened before with vote going missing etc. I am sure my mom will be glued to the TV with the Rugby world cup

I wonder what the votes will look like this year....... Plot twist?
Funny enough I was watching Cricket one day and it sparks memories of sitting at the Wanderers watching the same T20s which I quite enjoyed. I was never big on sport but that will be very exciting to watch!
As for Rugby, that's more my mom's thing. She can catch me up on all the details. Rugby doesn't interest me thaaaaaaat much.
What a year we've got ahead of us!

This is an exceptionally exciting year. It will be very interesting to see what happens with the elections and also what actual policies will follow as soon as all the campaigning is over. I love both cricket and rugby, even if things might not be looking great for our national teams at the moment.

It's such a big year for South Africa but just thinking of the chaos at the voting stations makes me anxious. But vote we shall vote.

Not really fascinated by politics. Am truly excited for the Rugby world cup though. That's one sport SA never disappoints us in.

Voting is always a frustrating time as some people waste their vote by not voting, then there are scandals that arise that ballet boxes go missing. So I think there is a need for big sporting events as a distraction. However lets hope that this time around it is smooth sailing.

When comes to politics and economy we are praying and hoping for the best and we really need lots of entertainments and sports events otherwise we are going to be mad or depressed if we are paying more attention to bad things that are affecting us everyday.

Yes this year is interesting and nerve wrecking at the same time. Elections is nerve wrecking and Rugby will be interesting (nail biting) to watch. I hope our rugby team is going to bring back the gold cup.

I cant say I am too optimistic about South Africa's credit rating increasing. Eskom once again manages to shed a negative light on our growth prospects.

Let us hope the sporting events lift our spirits because the year ahead, politically and economically looks very bleak. With Eskom in a total mess and the constant load shedding we have been experiencing of late, life in South Africa looks a little dark......excuse the Pun.

I don't really follow the news or sports to be honest, but it does seem like 2019 might be a big year for South Africa and I might just look at how the cricket goes, thank you for the information about 2019.
