While we in South Africa have still not got Teslas, despite the fact that it is now the biggest company in the world by market capitalisation, the electric revolution continues. Recently in America a company, Magnix, entered the history books with the first electric flight of a modified Cessna airplane. I am always thinking about buying a boat and it is very frustrating that all of them at the moment are diesel run – you can rest assured in 10 or 15 years’ time there are going to be lots of electric options and we need to start making those types of choices for our environment. It is obviously a long way before there will be lots of aeroplanes that are flying with electric engines, but it is certainly the way of the future and I very much doubt, apart from Africa, and other developing economies, that there will be that many gasoline cars around by 2030.

I do not know if i can trust an electric flying engine plane. All good and well, technology is improving and is better each year, but I am still the old-fashioned type of person.

It's great to see that people are still trying to improve every inch of the world. I am glad that people are also thinking of ways which can help our environment - it's so important that we start looking toward things that help our world! I think in a few years time things - technology will have changed so much we will be surprised how we have ever lived otherwise.

Wow! Look where the world is headed..
I saw a video of a motorcycle that runs on dirty water. Soon enough boats will be running on water too. I mean how great would that be? Use what you're surrounded by...

While we have some technological and regulatory challenges to overcome, I think it’s just a matter of time before we will find solutions for issues like big, heavy batteries and the speed of electrified aircrafts….The future is looking bright.

Electric cars, planes and boats all sound fantastic. However, in a world where more than 60% of our electricity is sourced from fossil fuels - it all seems a little pointless. We first need to come up with sustainable and safe means to produce electricity before we go about creating all these fantastic things that can run off of it.

Technology evolves everyday, new ways and things are discovered. I can only just imagine where we will be by 2030 with technology. Electric cars are already manufactured, so it will only be logical for other transports to head this way if its visible?

It is fascinating to see how far individuals are willing to push the boundaries in respect to revolutionizing technology. Hopefully South Africa will catch up with the global trends soon.

Amazing to see how quick things are changing. It is the better option but also at what price.South Africa has a far way to go before introducing these options.

Thinking about 2030 it still sounds so far ahead, yet its actually around the corner.
I am sure that the Covid pandemic will have an impact on the manufacturing companies for some time to come and there might be a bit of a delay with all the electronic planes, boats and cars especially in South Africa.

Technology amazes me! I'm sure they predicted that cars would fly in 2020. I'm sure that's around the corner as well. In SA it will probably only be a reality 10 years after the rest of the world gets it.

It is always good to see inventions that are environmentally friendly although it will take longer for a country such as ours to invest in them.

These technological developments are exciting to hear about. It will definitely be beneficial for our environment heading into the electric revolution. I'm definitely in support of electric options however, I think developing countries would still have a long way to go before we can invest in electric options.

It is very interesting blog to read, it is very true that world is moving away from gasoline to electric options.
In one article I was reading that true electric passenger flight taking a plane-full of passengers from New York to London is 20 years off. Mr MagniX’s Ganzarski said that “so much needs to happen” to get to that point still.
If these flights work out, they could be a game-changer, especially for the environment.

Reading your article brought a chuckle to mind of a meme I saw recently, it said, "In 2020 we were expecting to see space holidays and advanced technology but instead we are learning to wash our hands"........

Most people around the world are moving towards Greener environment. Countries which relies on oil to build their economies are going to have problems in 10 years to come. South Africa was for many years dependant of mineral deposits and now those minerals are gone the economy is not growing.

It will take a bit of time, but I see wverthing turning electric at some point. It is fascinating to say the least as to how far things have come. Cannot say that I am too comfortable with no oone in control, but soon, one will not have a choice.

Imagen flying to work, I would love it. Instead of driving an hour we can fly in like 15/20 minutes.

"Going green" should be a priority for every human being on this planet. Without sustainable energy sources we're putting the lives of future generations at risk. It is very exciting to see developments such as these within the transport sector that moves us towards a greener future.

Yes that is certainly the way of the future! Imagine a city with far less traffic, quiet streets because there’s no engine noise, no air pollution because there are no engines burning fuels. I will love to drive an electric vehicle. This is a very smart choice for the planet and its future too.

It is funny that they keep inventing these kind of things for people who are not even ready to move with the times. Maybe in America they have moved with the times but South Africa , that may take forever before people move with the times because they still tell you "why should i buy an automatic car if manual is cheap?" then you think electric cars will make a difference? i doubt because for them manual cars are much better than electric cars.

This is the way the future is going. Petrol vehicles are going to be a thing of the past. There are already a few shopping centres that I have seen that have the electric vehicle charging stations in the parking lots. The electric option will be a lot more environmentally friendly, especially considering how many planes there are in the air and vehicles on the road on a daily basis.

I just have one issue with all the Technology growth in the current world issue is that Technology will take away Jobs for people. If all cars and plans are run by tech what will be left for people. One day we will all sit at home well Robots take away Jobs and work. There is even a Robert that can opp on you now.

I read in an article that electric flight has been around since the 1970s, but it’s remained limited to light-weight experimental planes flying short distances and solar-powered aircraft with enormous wingspans yet incapable of carrying passengers. But as this evolves it will be saving the planet as well as costs on flights.

Its funny, they have been saying since 2018 that they are bringing the Tesla to SA but obviously haven't. Probably brings no sense to bring it here, majority of people cannot afford it. Especially now under the current conditions.
