A future recession

The head of the World Bank said that it will be very hard for many countries around the world to avoid recession.  The World Bank is forecasting that growth for the rest of this decade will be below what it was for the last decade.  Growth in the United States and Europe is forecast to slow down, but they say that emerging nations, and SA is clearly one of them, will have the toughest time as a result of the problems that arose from the Covid pandemic and now the war in Ukraine.  To make matters worse, the money that governments owe is increasing and increasing interest rates are going to further increase those debts.

This topic hits close to home but it’s a reality, prices and the cost of living is only going up and it extremely hard trying to keep head above water .It’s getting harder to survive. The cost of living has become extremely hard, from fuel going up and the normal day to day living is going up

Some people barely survived the post covid economy, now talks of a recession really quite scary.

I know that a lot of South African households have been feeling the pressure for a while. Everything is going up and it's hard to keep up. Fuel, electricity, food and everything in between!

It has become s expensive to live these days and we are all suffering and just trying to cut costs where we can in order to survive. One can only hope that something changes for the better at some point

The cost of living has become extremely hard, from fuel to electricity, never did I ever think that I was going to pay R20 for a bread. It is insane

It is funny that now in America and on the news they define "recession" as something else than prior to this year. However, I do believe America is in recession and other countries close on its tail.

The cost of living is already so high in South Africa. I cannot imagine what life would be like should things worsen.

Well our country is always taking loans on our expense, what more could we expect. Like the COVID "relief" fund. But anyways.

I must say, the future is looking a little scary at the moment. I find I am becoming increasingly depressed watching the news and listening to the news on the radio. One wants to stay updated with what is going on but at the same time, it is extremely depressing. I feel I am poorer now than I have ever been before......sad but true.

The inflation of thing is absolute madness. How do they expect people to survive with the unreasonable cost of living?

Things are bad in South Africa and the fight between Russia and Ukraine is not making it anywhere easy but it makes it worse. The economy has not been good to anyone and yet it keeps getting worse and worse. I think with the way things are going people are going to be fired again

This is so bad, life here in SA is getting so bad. What once cost me R1000.00 a week is now R1800.00 a week. Petrol is a Killer. I have no clue how we are going to push through. Just got to keep faith.
