We all have things that we have bought which we feel we have wasted our money on, and on the other hand you get goods or services where you really get what you believe to be a lot of value. One of the steps I took a couple of months ago was to subscribe to the ad-free version of YouTube. It has really made a tremendous difference in my life, particularly because I often like to work with electronic dance music or EDM in the background. I can now listen to DJ sets from the various festivals without being interrupted every 7 or 8 minutes with a new advert! We all have different things that we find to be of value, but for me, I only wish that I paid for the ad-free version of YouTube a long time ago, given that I use it extensively – whether it is for those DJ sets, watching replays of major horse races or the very informative YouTube videos that tell you how to do things, work software programs, etc, etc.

Add can definitely be annoying but sometimes helpful.

The adverts can no doubt be annoying, but it’s never really bothered me too much. Sometimes I find them quite interesting especially if it’s about a new product/service.

Between YouTube and Spotify, I can't choose which is better to have. I found some hacks to avoid ads on YouTube (without having to pay for premium) but I think that only works for Americans. I might just consider paying for both soon enough...

I didn't think of it until reading this blog and the comment. We use Youtube every single day at home. I will consider it now.

I actually rarely use Youtube at home, I'm more of a Netflix or Amazon Prime user and for music I use Spotify or Apple music... I think we have a lot of streaming sites and maybe if there was something that really appealed to me on Youtube, I would pay for the Premium version.

My one thing is Spotify as I quite enjoy listening to music when doing pretty much doing most things. YouTube, I would say, is a very good one to get as there are a lot of things that can be taught from it

I don't really mind the adds, I just skip them. But sometimes I enjoy the add break, allows me to quickly do something else. So all good for me.

I cannot stand you tube and its ads especially when you are enjoying good music or watching something interesting. I have not yet paid for the ad-free version as its more money off the account now... One day though.

I must say we have the family package with Spotify and we love it, for sure can not stand the ads, don't really use Youtube that much apart form watching certain videos every now and then.

I think paying for things like your music apps (Spotify or Apple Music) definitely makes for a better listening experience. Ads just ruin the mood.

I don't really watch YouTube so it wouldn't really effect me however my daughter spends all her time on YouTube kids which hardly has any ads and my 4 year old has become such a pro at navigating it, it would be a waste of money for me

Well I don't mind the ad's really, especially when it's Peppa Pig time, honestly the ad's give me a break. Not that he watches it for hours but when his time comes to watch, that Peppa Pig is a nightmare of a voice and Blippi, although Blippi is informative and teaches colours, counting etc, his voice is annoying.

I feel this way about Spotify - it makes driving a lot more pleasant and enables me to listen to my podcasts without any interruptions. For me, it's worth every cent.

I don't really watch YouTube Vids, but I am sure my children would love to have this as they like to watch toy reviews and I always get angry children when they have interruptions on there show.
