Whenever I see Venice I am reminded of the fact that it once was essentially the trade capital of the world, and ruled much of the world. It really must have made the most awesome and dramatic appearance for ships, when they sailed through Venice 500 years ago, because even today it is incredibly dramatic and even more so when seeing Venice from a ship – and many ships sail right through the heart of Venice for beginning or ending a cruise.

Venice is the most fascinating, intriguing and beautiful place I have ever been to in the world. I love the way you feel when you walk down the narrow pathways, to think centuries ago how masked murderers, children and all sorts of people used to run down and make their way through the maze of alley ways and how lucky we are Venice is still above sea level. I will definately go again soon as I fear my fears will come true in the face of global warming if I leave it too late....
