Winter weight

I know I should not be writing about problems about losing weight at the end of winter and during the heat of October, but it seems no sooner do you get out of those cold months, when it is almost impossible to lose weight, than you hit the party season and the end of the year functions that one has to attend. One day, perhaps they will start applying sensible food at the end of the year functions, but until then we will have to continue eating all of those things that leave you with so much work to do in January!

No excuses for being over weight none what so ever. Don't be skinny but healthy. Um.. what does electricity have to do with this?

As long as our county's borders are open to sundry and all, we'll never have enough electricity. Government must first of all bring that under control.

LED lights are not the solution - light output (genearlly) is not up to par yet, these are not the absolute angels they are made out to be, they have their limitationas and issues.

CFL and the likes are still the best option, despite the bit of mercury etc. Life is about compromise.

Use of timers to move water heating out of peak demand times is simple and inexpensive - have that shower - just heat the water when demand is lower.

Gov. is not responsible to solve all our challenges - we all need to act.

Billboards, streetlights etc, they have their place in society.

Where there is a lack of streetlights we install security lights on the walls...compromise again.

Eskom needs to sell kWh - thats their funding model, we as consumers need to limit our kW demand and that in all our best interest, move the load use the power. Note the difference Consuption vs. Demand.

We are consumers (hence the name) - we just need to change our demand pattern.

Ultimatley in a perfect world use less energy, especially non-renewable energy. In paradise we wuold use "no energy".

I strongly agree with this. The tendency of (quasi)government institutions to absolve themself of the responsibility to actually do their job, whilst blaming their shortcomings on the public, is widespread and firmly entrenched. Re electricity consumption, I am incensed to see instructions on TV when I get home after a long day's work, which imply that I am not entitled to have a shower or a cooked meal. Meanwhile, it is apparently OK for the scourge of illuminated billboards to desecrate our environment while using our non-renewable resources. There is something very wrong with this dichotomy.
