I was very happy to see that Nedbank, with whom I bank, recently introduced a new system whereby every single time you log into your Internet banking account they will send you an SMS confirming that you have logged in, and that is obviously over and above the normal SMS’s you would get, for example, when a transaction goes off your credit card.
Obviously fraud with Internet banking is rife, and every extra step they take will advance security and reduce the risks of people losing a lot of money due to a fraudulent transaction.

@Elaine those are phishing scams and if you look at the actual link it does not contain the name of the bank, at all.
I also bank with ABSA and I must be honest, they are on top of their game. I will received anywhere between 2 and 5 smses whilst on my internet banking. There are other times however when I swipe my card, make payments off my internet banking, inter-account transfers and I do not receive a single sms.

I bank with ABSA and you will receive your 1st SMS when you log in, your 2nd SMS with a RVN pin wich you need to use when you load a transaction and a 3rd SMS with a another RVN pin to actually do the payment. Very secure.

FNB has always had this service. And it's a definite "put your mind at ease" service. Not only that but you wouldn’t be able to access your account or make transactions without the codes that the bank sends to you.

yes all fine and well,but i find it amazing how many emails i get daily both from nedbank and absa bank telling me some or other moneys etc need to be transfered in or out of my account and i dont have a bank account with either of these banks!!!
