The title of the programme is enough to guarantee that I normally would not watch, but I watched the opening episode of the latest British version of Strictly Come Dancing, and having never watched an episode before, I decided to Google the terms “strictly come dancing affairs” and was not surprised to see multiple articles about various contestants come up.
The supercharged nature of the show and the way they pair off various married celebrities to what appear to be single dancers, almost guarantees that there are going to be a few who stray from the path – and when one watches the excitement of some of the female dancers, for example, when they are told who their partner will be, it is no surprise that things may get out of hand, not to mention that some of the male dancers, who have been on the show for more than one season, have been linked with more than one of their partners over the various shows. In some regards, and perhaps it was just the opening episode, it came across to me as more of a show about match-making, than it was about dancing!

i love strictly come dancing! i must admit i no longer follow it like the way i use too.
i have not really ever taken note of any of the scandals behind the show as i purely watch it for the dancing, the elegant dresses and the judgement.
i do agree though, the show has become so popular because of the scandals behind it ecspecislly when it deals with different kinds of relationship problems that may relate to many viewers lifes. audience are attracted to scandals. i mean is that not why soo many people watched days of our lifes lol..

I love watching people dance and this is one of my favorite programmes. It would be rude not to be excited when one's partner is announced but of course not over do it and for the dancers to be in sync while dancing. It doesn't neccessarily mean that it is a ticket to an affair.

I have never watched this show as I love dancing but not this kind of dancing where you are matched up with someone according to other people. I do however love so you think you can dance, now that is real talent people on their own to get to the top and then to be partnered up BRILLIANT!!! As for the scandal part of the series if you really into that, one should watch Gossip Girl OMW lots of scandal goes on there lol. But I'm with Brenda I prefer watching The Mentalist that is something worth watching :-)

I don't watch it and i never will, I am more of a CSI, Flashpoint, Mentalist person... I have never been interested in any of these "dancing" shows at all. So i wouldn't be able to comment along the lines of whether it is scandal or not.

It's about the dancing for the audience. Close body contact, hours of physical activity together. Yeah, it's going to happen. Just don't think it was the intention of the producers. No one is happy nowadays with watching a show. It must involve some scandal after hours too.

I don't watch this show but I did come across it once, a while back and to be honest it just doesn't really catch my eyes or interest me. I prefer shows like 'The Bachelor' or 'The Bachelorette' or 'Temptation Island'

Definitely have to agree with you. They are always so intimate with one another and they always kissing each other once the dance is over. Things become so intense, as if there is sexual tension between the dancers depending on the type of dance they are doing. Kim Kardashian was even on this show. @ David - boo hoo Idols is awesome!! and I cannot wait for the X Factor to start! :)

i can understand why the name of the show would almost be enough to guarantee your not watching. in my case, however, it certainly is enough to guarantee my not watching... another show guaranteed of not having me watch is idols.

I think you reading too much into it... maybe sometimes its like that but I dont think they personally try 'match-make' especially people who are married. It will definitely cause drama and we all know thats what the media want, but in the end will they really go to that extreme? Besides its not the tool that makes couples cheat... Its themselves.
