Edgars’ loyalty programme

I was chatting to somebody who is involved in the launch of the new Edgars’ loyalty programme, where you get points for money spent like most loyalty programmes, which are ultimately redeemable on purchases and the numbers are huge. They apparently have over 4.6 million cardholders and on the first day after they announced the activation of the new cards, more than 62,000 cards were processed. That was a Monday – and I can only imagine what this weekend will be like, for example. I thought their card certainly had a good design, with a bit of a hi-tech look on the back and some see-through plastic for the U in “Thank U” and hopefully for Edgars and the Edcon Group, because you can use the cards at CNA and Jet for example, it will be a huge hit.

One can imagine the many months of work involved in putting together a new loyalty scheme like this and all the work that must be involved in printing, manufacturing and getting those cards out in the hands of all of their members, not to mention reprogramming software for the points system. I wonder how much Mr Price has eaten into Edgars and I would love to hear your comments as to the new loyalty scheme from Edgars, and whether you shop at Edgars or Mr Price – or both.

The one thing I do like about the Thank U card is the man on the other side of the U.

I prefer Mr Price. I have an account there but not with Edgars. I've never liked Edgars clothing really, not because of the quality or anything but most times when I go in there, nothing catches my eye. My boyfriend has an Edgars account so when I do like something I can always use his card. He's also got the Thank U card, it looks really nice. I also like the design of it. I remember when he got it, the first thing I noticed was the see through U. The loyalty program sounds great. Legit has also been added to the shops you can shop at - or maybe it's always been..?

In today's life, it is great to reward consumers with extras. However, the quality between Mr. Price and Edgars cannot be compared. Some of Mr. Prices' clothing is of better quality than Edgars. I think it is just a matter of time when all shops will come up with the same, or similar, loyalty programmes. And so the competition continues...

I remember receiving a letter about this, I havent gotten mine yet but I will be going to get it. Its a very good concept and I think more people will be shopping at Edgars. Mr Price use to be rather cheap but I think their prices are now about the same or almost the same as Edgars. I'd rather shop at Edgars for way better quality and variety. Also its better to have an account at Edgars than Mr Price - not only because of this new loyalty programme but you can purchase airline tickets on your accounts, buy designer brand clothing, non branded clothing, perfume, cellphones, accessories, shoes, literally everything. Its like a huge department store, movie tickets. I prefer Edgars over Mr Price anyday. The loyalty programme is really just another extra bonus on the many advantages of Edgars!
