The Telkom lines at my office have been down since Wednesday, 29 February 2012. The old line that I had 011 788 7273 fortunately still works, so we have been able to e-mail all of our clients that they should use that number to phone in, but we cannot phone out to landlines and we cannot receive phone calls on our 0800 accident number either!
It is amazing that Telkom, instead of addressing the problem straightaway tried a story about the account not being paid, then told us that there were issues in the Rosebank area, then gave us some other version and eventually sent somebody out who discovered that some contractor in the area had recently just chopped the cables by mistake, and that they would repair them shortly. A picture of the damaged cable is alongside this blog.
One then has to get a number for the cable division of Telkom and follow up the cable division and quite frankly this is the type of action that could really put many businesses out of business and naturally we have sustained huge losses as a result thereof, and while once you get through to senior management, something does seem to happen, but it is tragic that it takes almost a week of stories before you get the truth, and you then still have to phone up each department to get follow-up action.

Telkom is pathetic, I wonder how Neotel is compared to telkom. I am really behind in my work and its frustrating. Those days without phonelines were terrible!

This is poor service from Telkom and if it goes on like this for another two weeks or so, most companies will lose profit from tehri businesses.

Wow Telkom again, and nothing will be done for another two weeks I guess. Instead of sorting out the problem, they sifting the blame to others. While companies are losing money as the hours go by, employees work loads is getting bigger and more behind. I hope they get this sorted out very fast because it's very frustrating.

This is a serious problem and what I don't understand is why the seniors always have to get involved before something is done. But then again, SA's service is shocking in most cases. And as Brumilde said, I'm not surprised at all.

this is nothing new telkom have been pulling these same tricks for many years, and it was only due to getting to know the right people at telkom that i managed to keep my systems running and got problems solved asap before because they always blamed it on the switchboard technicians and they in turn blamed it on telkom,we need some serious competition in the telephone industry in this country!

I agree with Gen. It is impossible to do what you need when you have issues like this hampering you

I think it is absolutely ridiculous.
Such poor management skills from Telkom, surely they should know that this is costing companies money.
I wish that Telkom had a stronger competitor, so that when nonsense such as this occurs, you have a choice as a consumer to change to a different service provider. I believe it is the knowledge that the consumer doesn’t have much of a choice but to have patience that they shunt you around from pillar to post.
