This time of the year is definitely flu injection time, for anybody who is running a business and for anybody who is at risk from flu which includes the young and the elderly. I get all my staff to go for a flu injection every year, and have found that the incidents of serious flu breakouts in our offices have really been dramatically reduced.
I don’t mean to suggest that that would stop people from getting colds at any time of the year, saying that they have the flu, but most people forget that actual flu is much worse than a cold and largely indicated by high temperatures over a number of days. The sniffles or a bad cold is not the same as flu and of course one can keep working through that whereas with the high temperatures of flu you cannot work. Most companies follow this practice and I certainly recommend it for all businesses but I also do believe from a health point of view that it is much better to avoid exposure to this if one can. I am glad to see that the health department is running adverts this year, dispelling the common fallacy that you can get a cold or flu from the flu injection – you cannot, that is impossible and it is just a nonsense allegation as some people who want to avoid having the injection tend to make.

My health is really good. I'm really almost never sick so I don't think it's necessary for me to get the injection - even though I had to. People's minds are their biggest enemy. When winter comes along everybody says 'Oh boy, now we're gonna get sick again.' And guess what, they do because they think because it's winter they must get sick.

I heard a whole lot about people getting the flu because of the flu injections, this was my first time that I got this so we will see how it goes.

I absolutely hate getting the injection. I just feel I have never been sick so many times in one season as I have been since getting the injection. Sure it wasn't bad strains of flu (well 80% of the time anyway) but being sick (yes, having a cold) 4 or 5 times for 2 - 3 weeks at a time in a 5 month period is not fun.
I guess it helps if you take the supplementing vitamins they give you along with the injection, if not, you only have yourself to blame.

I think the reason that some people get really sick is the fact that they get the injection at the wrong time. You cannot get it when you are sick, or recovering from being sick. In my opinion, I think it breaks down your own immune system and when you do get sick at a later stage, your body cannot fight it back on its own.

I don't have a problem with getting the flu injection at all. I will much rather sit with a sniff and a cough than in ICU with any one of these insane diseases going around. I am not a hypochondriac, but i do like to take precautions when it comes to my health.

I nagged forever to be overlooked when these injections were scheduled. For the last year I haven't been sick AT ALL. An awesome prevention for the O-blood types is to take turmeric, cayenne pepper with hot water and a dash of lemon juice two to three times a day. Besides this I take a mixture of hot water, cinnamon, ginger, lemon juice and honey and drink it like you would drink tea every morning. Cayenne is the most undiscovered spice ever. Glad I missed the flu-injection this year, I would really like to see how this year goes with the concoction I use.

Prevention is better than cure.Getting the injection is good because it prevents anyone from getting the virus and even if the flu attacks you it wont be that serious.

I must say that I am one of teh believers that the flu injection does work for myself. I feel that it does not prevent me from getting a cold or cough but it does reduce the risk of getting the flu really bad .
The only downfall is that the injection is quite sore for a number of days after I get it. I hate that feeling!

Alexis, the scientific data shows it works. With that sort of approach perhaps we can also all choose whether to have injections for diseases that killed millions decades ago? We will "decide" if we think it works and because a minority decide not to have it then we will all be susceptible again to diseases largely eradicated?

don't do the flu injection, also don't do headache tabs etc etc etc. don't get flu, also don't get headaches etc etc. these days people get a sniff, and think they're dying of flu. flu injections, headache tabs etc etc cater mainly for the hypercondriacs and compulsive self medicators. thank god i am not one of them...

People have aright to choose whetehr they would like to attend the flu injection or not, some people believe in it and others not. It is really up to the person
