We are looking at another substantial petrol decrease at the beginning of December. That will certainly help people get into the Christmas mood and cheer up a lot of people. Of course, typically speaking, during the northern hemisphere winter, prices do go up but at the moment oil is on a slide. What that price will be is going to depend entirely on the Rand’s strength, but at mid-month we were looking at a decrease of as much as 65c a litre and, if somehow, the Rand can show some strength, it could be a lot more. It is unfortunate that due to currency weakness, we are not getting the full benefits of the sliding oil price, with the movement in the exchange rate adding to the cost, while the oil price comes down.

It really is perfect timing what with families taking road trips down to the coast for the holidays. It will be great to save some money to spend towards Christmas presents, or save for when money is a little tight at the end of December.

This is brilliant news!!! I don't want to jinx it by saying it will increase again in January but it probably will... Hopefully it won't be too bad though...

still pity we cant ride bikes to work or have public transport , it would save so much money not to have this cash gobbling 4 wheels we have to drive ourselves around.
insurance, petrol, monthly car payments, new Tyre, always fixing something etc etc etc.
a house, a car and a kid that is all you need to be broke for ever.

That's awesome news, especially for the ones that travels far to work, but I'm sure it will go up again next year.

Let's hope the media is correct about the amount it's anticipated to drop by. I know after a drop in price it goes up substantially thereafter but for now I'm still going to do a little dance

Every cent helps at the moment. I remember in 2006 buying a small car with a small tank that cost me R190.00 to fill the tank :-). That same small car is now costing R470.05. Yes we may be amongst the world's cheapest, petrol wise, every cent still help the consumers. Let's hope 702 was correct yesterday when the said, 72c.

This is good news. I also agree with Brumilde that the fuel prices will probably go up more that it goes down.

That's fantastic news especially during a time where one travel's substantially more than anytime of the year. I think more people will be on the roads this December, which is not necessarily a good thing.
