The breakthrough I am waiting for with cell phones

People always talk about the latest features on cell phones, but it seems that one thing does not keep up with those features and that is battery life. The more features they add, the faster the battery drains.

The way to judge how well your battery lasts is not to consider how it does at a day when you sit at home or at the office.  Go out there and be a mobile warrior – rely on your phone for a whole day to try and do your e-mails, make your phone calls, research things, etc.  If you use your phone in that way and you have a feature rich phone with lots of applications, you have basically little chance of getting past 2pm without your battery dying on you.  I would really like to see the next advance in cell phones to be that you can use your phone, use your e-mail, use your maps and use everything for a full 12 hours.  I am not asking for 24 hours, but even if they cannot get to 12 hours, if they could at least make a phone last a working day on a full battery from 8.30am to surviving until 5pm.  I understand that they can if you just make phone calls, but in this day and age it is not enough and they need to take phone batteries to a new level.

I bet in 2000 years they gonna be digging up the rubble of our destroyed earth and they'll find a Nokia still on half battery. My phone never has enough battery life to take pictures but has enough battery life to keep telling me "battery low, plug in your charger"

I agree, these batteries that are manaufactured today are really not impressive. I get so frustrated with mine as i will check and its 80 % percent and not doing anything check again and its on 65% I only seem to use my phone more strategically when i get that low battery message such as dim the screen put it on ultra save to utulize minium apps, once its to late and that irratating message appears. Do they realise that that message that pops up and makes that annoying sound probably uses more percentange of the battery life to!!!

I agree that the more the phone is busy, the more the battery goes flat

You can get a portable battery charger, its a small battery with a cable that you plug in like a normal charger.

This would be revolutanary! I think all of us dread the day that we forget to charge our phones and then run around scrambling for a charger just to make sure that your phone has at least some battery percentage in the event of an emergency. My sister uses her power banks like no tomorrow, she will charge her phone and then as soon as it's flat, walk around with her power bank and still doing her thing on the phone! I say we need a phone that you only have to charge one every two weeks, is that too much to ask? Haha

I think it will be amazing if a phones battery will last longer because normally when you need your phone the most your battery die, like I use my phones google maps and I got lost because of the battery that died and I didn't have a car charger.

Would love to have a phone that lasted longer than a day, or even half. I suppose it is all the apps being used unfortunately / fortunately. I remember back in the day, my Nokia used to last a couple of days before i had the charge it - those days are over. It comes with the territory of having so much on the phones these days.

This is the biggest issue I have with my phone, it needs to be charged for at least an hour during sometime of the day in order for me to use it until about 5 pm. It is definitely something that can be improved on all cell phones!

I agree with you 100%. I love how they advertise '2 day battery life' though -___- For like the first month yes when there's no apps on the device. Like you say, we do more than just make phone calls these days.
They keep improving the charging devices like the Power Bank but not the battery... Stupid.

I agree with Johann - my phone seems to be permanently in the wall. Too many apps drain the life out of my phone. Fair enough we have power banks, car chargers and the likes - as humans we demand more! It's so annoying when I am out at a festival for example & I have to turn off my phone in order to be able to order an uUber later!

Battery life needs to improve , although I am hardly ever on my phone , so I would forget to charge it at times because sometimes I don't even realise its flat . But even without me using my phone a lot the battery life still isn't that great because there are apps that constantly run in the background that drain battery life

With all the charging going we are effectively back to the old days where the phones are attached to a cord plugged into the wall.

I can't agree more! This is a major problem for anyone and everyone. You need your cell for so many things, especially if you are traveling and might not be able to charge your phone constantly.

I would definitely buy a phone that has a battery life for 12 hours, it is always so stressful when your at court and you see your battery draining so quickly.

So true, and the weird thing is every time your phone is off you will have the most missed calls and message.

Ah yes the constant problem in my life. I have three chargers because my phone always dies. I am ready for some sort of development in this regard.

Battery life span has always been my biggest problem. Researching, googling, emails, whatsapps and and and - It's charged to 100% throughout the night, you get to the office and at about 12:00, the battery span is at around 60%. The good old old phones way back in the day , ie. Nokia's battery would last for a day, maybe push to 2 days, but then again, in the 90s, one didn't have social media apps like nowadays
