Steve Jobs

It is seldom that the death of an individual, especially when that person was not a politician, makes world news. It is the measure of the success that Steve Jobs achieved in his very short life that such tributes have flowed in from around the world and from some of the most important people of the last two decades.

When I was chairperson of the Gauteng Law Council, I ended my speech, in 2005, with one of my favourite quotes from Steve – and one should remember at that stage, the iPhone was still 2 years away and the iPad had not even been conceived. The quote, "Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

He really was a visionary, he has brought out absolutely iconic products and it is a tragedy that such a brilliant man had such a short time on our planet.

Steve was truelly one of the legends of our time, we so lucky to have been apart of his generation to truelly witness some of his great inventions

may he rest in peace and knowing his memory will live on forever! so sad though.

I little known fact is that Steve Jobs played a huge part in the success of the animation company Pixar. He can be largely credited with the success of movies such as Toy Story and I think Finding Nemo too. It seems like everything he touched turned in to gold.

On my way out last night at around 19h30, 702 played a snippet, roughly 7 minutes, from a speech given by Steve Jobs to university students in 2005. Very few things make my hair stand up, but this speech had my hair raised from from the time Steve started speaking until they faded it out. This man is walking proof that, "if you do what you love doing, you will never 'work' a day in your life again".

Steve Jobs was truly a mastermind! He brought alot of digital life to our lives if that makes any sense. He definitely left a legacy which will live on for a very very long time. Something truly revolutionary! Apple will never be the same again :-) I just love googling his quotes! May he R.I.P.
